It's not often you can use a 14mm for a portrait picture and get away with it.
SOME TIPS
- Have a reason to use a 14mm... aka a huge scene or building you want to have in there.
- Put the subjects right in the middle (Distortion on a body can be bad on a 14mm, primarily on edges)
- If you're low and shooting up... have them lean over.
- Give yourself some room on the edges to tilt and correct the photo in post process
- Seperate from the background as much as you can because there is little normal depth of field. (or give up on the idea of a blurred background)
P.s. Rules are made to be broken... but do it sparingly.
