1- At around 20:00 UTC on Tuesday, the @Vertcoin account tweeted that its developers were “doing a 10 BTC giveaway” to its followers. The now deleted tweet asked users to send 0.005 BTC to a specific address to enter what was clearly a scam contest.
2 - The chief executive of British multi-national investment bank, Barclays, has announced that they are not planning on launching their own cryptocurrency trading desk anytime soon. The revelation came during the bank’s annual general meeting earlier today.
3 - South Korea’s central bank, the Bank of Korea (BOK), has recently announced it is considering cryptocurrencies and blockchain applications for its project for a “cashless society,” local news TokenPost reports May 1.
4 - Gensler’s remarks, made at an MIT gathering last week, imply that Ripple and the Ethereum Foundation—both of which sell reserve stocks of their respective cryptocurrency—could be violating securities law. Likewise, it implies that the popular U.S. exchange Coinbase won’t be able to add new Ripple or other new digital currencies, and that it could face trouble for selling Ethereum, which it has made available since 2016.
5 - Coinbase is introducing over the counter (OTC) block trades, insiders say to Business Insider. OTC cryptocurrency trading occurs off the main exchange order books and is typically used to buy or sell high volumes without affecting the market.
