Hello friends, good vibes to all.
It has always been believed that the final of a soccer tournament, be it a World Cup or in this case a Champions League, should be as flashy as possible in order to guarantee a good show. In order for that to happen, one of those teams that are considered to be among the “big” teams in Europe would have to be present. This year's final, to be played next Saturday at the Allianz Arena in Munich, is not at all attractive for many fans, as it is one of those finals that were unlikely to happen. PSG, French champions, will face Inter Milan, a team that lost the scudetto in extremis against Napoli, with the difference between them being just 1 point.
What have been the last finals of the other two European tournaments? - ManU vs Tottenham in the Europa League and yesterday's Chelsea vs Betis in the Conference League. On paper these games were not very attractive but what was shown on the field I think they lived up to expectations. In the case of the Champions League obviously both teams want to win but each one I think they have their own strong reasons to do so. When PSG was “born” as the team we know today full of Arabian dollars they did it with only one intention: to win the crown. For that they called Messi, Neymar and they had a certain Mbappé and it still wasn't enough for them. The only precedent there is was 6 years ago when they lost against Bayern.
I think this PSG is infinitely better than those previous teams basically because of two things: because it seems they understood that this is not a short term project where signing madly was the method but something that you have to build little by little to form something really solid and consistent and secondly because of the quality of the coach they have. The arrival of Luis Enrique straightened out many things in this club, starting with their game. The French play to something, there is a work, an idea, something that did not happen before. Do I think they can win? - For me they are the favorites, but only just.
And in the other corner we have Inter, a team that comes hurting after losing Serie A. I am not a big follower of Italian soccer but I would think that during the season they were the favorites to win the league. There may have been talk of the treble but in the Coppa Italia they lost to Milan in the semifinals. A plus? - Well, they eliminated the favorite from the beginning of this Champions League and as I have always said, between tournaments the mentality changes a lot. I say that because that fact can enhance a team to the point of going out with a fine-tuned mentality even if many say that past games are just that, a past that is no longer thought about.
The Italians are much more historical, they have 6 finals and have won 3. The last one was 3 years ago against Guardiola's City, where they lost 1-0. It's been 16 years since the Nerazzurri last won after winning the legendary final at the Bernabeu against Bayern under Mourinho. I feel that on Saturday we will have a clash of styles of play, Inter is a team that presses a lot, goes a lot on the counter and has a lethal aerial game while PSG plays possession and control of the ball, they like to pass it with patience until they get the pass or the space to strike. I have a feeling it's going to be a good match, there is no reason for it to be boring or goalless, which would prove that the “attractive” match depends only on the eyes with which you look at it.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
