Totalitarian, dictatorial, and absolute control regimes will always persecute free artists. All regimes that persecute creators who offer criticism through any form of art are persecuted, imprisoned, and even murdered. It is paradoxical that those who follow totalitarian ideologies are, at the same time, plagued by artists who create propaganda for the system that controls everything.

Filmmaker Jafar Panahi already knows what it is like to be imprisoned for making films with clear criticisms of the regime that governs his country. Currently, according to news reports, he is serving a sentence; I don't know if he is in hiding, since he also decided to return to his country. The government also banned him from making films more than a decade ago, but that hasn't stopped him from continuing to do what he does best: creating and capturing on screen stories that expose all the evil of a regime that has subjugated his nation for decades.

A simple accident deserves the awards he received. It intrigues me greatly that, being banned from filming, he had to do it clandestinely, shooting in secret—a task that required considerable ingenuity, since many scenes were filmed outdoors, even on busy streets. But when a filmmaker is passionate about what they do, they find a way to create and share their story with the world.

The plot has moments that could be classified as dark humor, situations that spiral out of control and might even provoke laughter, but behind it all, I could sense a feeling of terror. I, too, live in a country ravaged by corruption, with a population living in fear, where many people have been imprisoned, tortured, and disappeared. That's why I could also savor the delicious elixir of revenge that emanates from its characters.

What would you do if you had the wretch who seems to be the one who tortured you locked in a coffin? I have no doubt what I would do: I would tear him to pieces, I would make him suffer to the fullest. A son of a bitch should be treated as such. I don't buy into that bullshit about forgiveness. The hypocrites are the ones who go around preaching empathy, forgiveness, and all that garbage. Screw it! Revenge is a tool for delivering justice. That's what I believe.

Of course, that's not the director's message. This film leans more toward the idea that violence begets more violence, especially when seeking forgiveness and reconciliation, although there's a terrifying final scene that confirms my opinion. Wolves shouldn't be allowed to roam free; their heads must be cut off. Wolves are wolves, and they'll attack you at any moment.

Todos los regímenes que persiguen a creadores que hacen críticas a través de cualquier forma de arte son perseguidos, encarcelados e incluso asesinados. Es paradójico que quienes siguen ideologías totalitarias estén, al mismo tiempo, plagados de artistas que hacen propaganda para el sistema que lo controla todo.

El cineasta Jafar Panahi ya sabe lo que es estar en prisión por hacer películas con claras críticas al régimen que gobierna su país. Actualmente, según las noticias, está cumpliendo una condena; desconozco si está escondido, ya que también decidió regresar a su país. El gobierno también le prohibió hacer películas hace más de una década, pero eso no le ha impedido seguir haciendo lo que mejor sabe: crear y plasmar en imágenes historias que exponen toda la maldad de un régimen que ha subyugado a su nación durante décadas.

Un simple accidente merece los premios que recibió. Me intriga enormemente que, al tener prohibido filmar películas, tuviera que hacerlo clandestinamente, rodando en secreto, una tarea que requirió considerable ingenio, ya que muchas escenas se filmaron en exteriores, incluso en calles concurridas. Pero cuando un cineasta siente pasión por lo que hace, encuentra la manera de crear y compartir su historia con el mundo.

La trama tiene momentos que podrían clasificarse como humor negro, situaciones que se descontrolan y que incluso pueden provocar risa, pero detrás de todo eso, pude sentir una sensación de terror. Yo también vivo en un país asolado por la corrupción, con una población que vive con miedo, donde muchas personas han sido encarceladas, torturadas y desaparecidas. Por eso también pude saborear el delicioso elixir de venganza que emana de sus personajes.

¿Qué harías si tuvieras encerrado en un ataúd al miserable que parece ser quien te torturó? No tengo ninguna duda de lo que haría: lo haría pedazos, lo haría sufrir al máximo. Un hijo de puta debe ser tratado como tal. No me creo esa mierda del perdón. Los hipócritas son los que andan por ahí predicando empatía, perdón y toda esa basura. ¡Al carajo! La venganza es una herramienta para impartir justicia. Eso es lo que creo.

Claro, ese no es el mensaje del director. Esta película se inclina más hacia la idea de que la violencia engendra más violencia, especialmente al buscar el perdón y la reconciliación, aunque hay una escena final aterradora que confirma mi opinión. No se debe permitir que los lobos anden libres; hay que cortarles la cabeza. Los lobos son lobos, y en cualquier momento te atacarán.
