Two days in the manganest

Another cosplay event took place in the musical and twilight city of Venezuela. This time it was Managnest, which has had several editions—I don't know exactly how many, since most were held in a park located east of the city, near the Los Cardones Urbanization. But this was the second time it was held at the Metrópolis Shopping Center, and it was a full weekend of activities.
On May 16th and 17th, the main stage of the shopping center hosted this latest edition of Managnest. The participating booths were located around the stage, offering, as always, a variety of products. As in other similar events, accessories, posters, and affordable merchandise were the best sellers.
By the way, I noticed that all the Michael Jackson products sold out on the first day, because the next day I didn't see a single poster, pin, or anything related to the King of Pop. The Michael Jackson movie hasn't just been a success; even young people of the new generation are buying Michael Jackson merchandise.
Otro evento de cosplay tuvo lugar en la ciudad musical y crepuscular de Venezuela. Esta vez fue Managnest, que ha tenido varias ediciones —no sé exactamente cuántas, ya que la mayoría se realizaron en un parque ubicado al este de la ciudad, cerca de la Urbanización Los Cardones—. Pero esta es la segunda vez que se celebra en el Centro Comercial Metrópolis, y fue todo un fin de semana de actividades.
Los días 16 y 17 de mayo, el escenario principal de dicho centro comercial acogió esta nueva edición de Managnest. Los puestos participantes se ubicaron alrededor del escenario, ofreciendo, como siempre, diversos productos. Como en otros eventos similares, los accesorios, pósteres y productos a buen precio fueron los más vendidos.
Por cierto, noté que el primer día se agotaron todos los productos de Michael Jackson, porque al día siguiente no vi ni un póster, ni un pin, ni nada relacionado con el Rey del Pop. La película de Michael Jackson no solo ha sido un éxito; incluso los jóvenes de la nueva generación están comprando productos de Michael Jackson.
The dance group V icon, who have also performed at Expo Comic and Matsucon, was invited and presented one of their choreographies on Saturday, adding a musical and spectacular touch. The young women put on a good show; it's a shame they only performed one choreography, but there will be other events where I'll be able to see them for longer.
There was also a gaming area, where small tournaments were being held, and the winners would receive prizes on Sunday, as the event was winding down.
I arrived around 2:00 PM on Saturday. There wasn't much going on that day, since the cosplay parade, according to the schedule, was on Sunday. Therefore, there were very few cosplayers on Saturday to socialize and see some of the activities, such as the quiz show that the organizers had prepared.
El grupo de baile V icon, que también ha actuado en Expo Comic y Matsucon, fue invitado y el sábado presentó una de sus coreografías para añadir un toque musical y espectacular. Las jóvenes ofrecieron un buen espectáculo; es una pena que solo presentaran una coreografía, pero habrá otros eventos donde podré verlas durante más tiempo.
También había una zona para gamers, donde se celebraban pequeños torneos, y los ganadores recibirían premios el domingo, cuando el evento estuviera terminando.
El sábado llegué sobre las 14:00. No había mucha animación ese día, ya que el desfile de cosplay, según el programa, era el domingo. Por lo tanto, había muy pocos cosplayers el sábado para socializar y ver algunas de las actividades, como el concurso de preguntas y respuestas que habían preparado los organizadores.
On Sunday, I left early to arrive on time for the cosplay parade and take plenty of photos. Obviously, more cosplayers attended that day. It's a small event, so the first-place prize was only $20. It's more of a symbolic prize, since making the cosplayers' costumes is much more expensive.
That Sunday, there were also musical performances by young people from the community who are also talented singers, as they belong to a local music academy. The number of attendees was also higher on Sunday.
The parade was entertaining; watching each cosplayer walk by, quickly performing some of their characters' movements. The three judges did a good job. They evaluated each cosplayer, paying close attention to whether the costumes had been mostly made by the cosplayers themselves. Although most deserved to win because everyone put in so much effort, a selection had to be made.
After the parade ended, they waited about an hour before announcing the winners. It was getting late, and after spending two days enjoying the event, I went home to rest. I believe the next manga convention will also be held at the same venue; I'll keep an eye out so I can attend.
El domingo salí temprano para llegar a tiempo al desfile de cosplay y tomar suficientes fotos. Obviamente, asistieron más cosplayers ese día para participar. Es un evento pequeño, así que el premio para el primer lugar fue de solo $20. Es más bien un premio simbólico, ya que hacer los disfraces de los cosplayers es mucho más caro.
Ese domingo también hubo presentaciones musicales de jóvenes de la comunidad que también son cantantes talentosos, ya que pertenecen a una academia de música de la ciudad. La cantidad de asistentes también fue mayor el domingo.
El desfile fue entretenido; ver a cada cosplayer desfilar, realizando rápidamente algunos de los movimientos de sus personajes. Los tres jueces hicieron un buen trabajo. Evaluaron a cada uno de ellos, prestando mucha atención a si los disfraces habían sido hechos en su mayoría por los propios cosplayers. Aunque la mayoría merecía ganar porque todos se esforzaron mucho, hubo que hacer una selección.
Después de que terminó el desfile, esperaron aproximadamente una hora para anunciar a los ganadores. Se estaba haciendo tarde, y después de pasar dos días disfrutando del evento, me fui a casa a descansar. Creo que la próxima convención de manga también se celebrará en el mismo lugar; estaré atento para poder asistir.
