When work and responsibilities become draining and exhausting, sometimes, all we just need is a quick breathe from our daily grind. A place where we can slow down, feel the fresh sea wind, and get our bodies moving at the same time. During my recent visit to Ozamiz, I was amazed to discover the Asenso Ozamiz Wellness Park.
Right in the heart of the city, this park isn’t just for sitting around and relaxing under the trees, which parks usually are. It’s a unique park where you can jog on its open field, hop on the free treadmill, or try the cardio bikes while enjoying the fresh air and the friendly people.
What I really like about this park is on how open and welcoming it is to everybody, even if you're not from this city. Anyone can come by families, barkadas, titas and titos, even solo joggers, and use the free gym facilities. So if you’re ever in Ozamiz and need a place to stretch a little, breathe, and just chill, this park is best for you. I’m excited to share my photos with you today!
It opened last June 30, 2023, thanks to the local government. They really wanted to help Ozamiznons stay fit, meet up with neighbors, and attract more tourists, too.
The park is nestled in the heart of the city, a few walks away from the Ozamis City Port, in front of the Cotta Port and Birhen sa Cotta Shrine, facing the Panguil Bay. Making it a relaxing and fresh place to sit under the big trees or simply use their free amenities.
For fitness, they have treadmills, cardio-bikes, and a running field. The place also has playsets for kids to enjoy, but I haven't seen any boys or girls on the slides and swings at that moment, the sun was hot. There are kiosks to stand by when the sun is still up, food parks, mainly the Asenso Food Park, and clean, well-maintained comfort rooms.
An amphitheater is found on one side where the LED wall plays movies for the people to enjoy after the sun goes down. I wasn't able to get a snap of the big LED wall because it was noontime when we arrived at the place. If you go here before sunset, please bring a cap or hat, the sun is not a joke in here. The open spaces can hold events too.
The solar lighting, informative signage, and the entrance arch make the park even more beautiful at night. There is also a block for Pasalubong where you can buy souvenirs, delicacies of Misamis Occidental, religious relics, creative crafts, and more. I was supposed to buy a pasalubong but my husband kept on beeping the horn 🤣😂, making me take my snaps very quickly and fast. This is such a smart initiative for the people from Ozamis City and for those from the neighboring places.
My visit to Asenso Ozamiz Wellness Park was a refreshing break and a reminder that you don’t always have to travel far or spend a lot just to relax, move, enjoy, and get some sweat. Whether you’re a fitness lover, someone looking for where to spend the weekend with family, or just someone needing a break, this park has something for you. I hope you get to visit soon and try the free gym equipment, or simply sit under the trees and let the fresh sea breeze soothe your soul. Until then, see you at the Asenso Ozamis Wellness Park! 🌿✨
