Before this month of April ends, allow me to share with you all how my lola's 85th birthday went
Last March 17, my lola (Filipino for grandmother in English) turned 85 years old. Turning another year of life is a huge blessing for all of us, especially for our dear lolo and lola. And because our life in this world is merely borrowed, we must make every opportunity to live count.
So, on her birthday, all of her grandchildren and daughters gathered to celebrate her special day. Being part of an extended family at home in the province makes the whole family quite loud and lively, which my lola really loves. She is the sweetest lola I've ever known and the only person who still treats me like a baby despite the fact that I'm 27 🤭😁.
My grandmother is a very hardworking woman. She isn't wealthy, and neither are we, but she is wealthy in terms of values, love and care for us. Our love for her is forever. We call her "Mama Ding," especially those who know her well. She is always happy whenever we are around her at home, complete and contented.
So, for her birthday, her son from Dubai came home to surprise her, as did her other daughter from the UAE. Though her other son in Hong Kong was unable to return home, he did not forget to greet her via video call.
My uncles and aunts were also the one who sponsored the whole food. Me and my cousins did the set-up and these balloons, we all did that to make her day bright and colorful.
Seeing us gathered altogether on her special day was already enough. Seeing her happy and enjoying her birthday for me is also a treasure and a great memory that I will never forget.
