Since a few months ago I have started walking around the city, jogging in parks or eventually some hiking, and it is something I need for my health and peace of mind. Caracas is a concrete jungle, and although I love its architectural landscape it is always necessary to connect with nature. Usually when I climb El Avila I do it in the mornings and alone, but this time a friend needed company and we went in the afternoon.
Desde hace unos meses he comenzado a hacer caminatas por la ciudad, trotar en parques o eventualmente algo de senderismo, y es que es algo que necesito para mi salud y paz mental. Caracas es una jungla de concreto, y aunque amo su paisaje arquitectónico siempre es necesario conectar con lo natural. Generalmente cuando subo El Ávila lo hago en las mañanas y en solitario, pero esta vez un amigo necesitaba compañía y fuimos en horas de la tarde.
From the moment you cross the entrance of the San Bernardino Trail the rural landscape changes completely and the only thing that remains is the concrete road, everything becomes green. Being a more daily activity I hardly take pictures anymore, but this day I was really inspired, maybe because of the company or because of the way the trail looks in the afternoon, full of shadows left by the trees, perfect for photographing the landscape.
Desde que cruzas la entrada del Sendero de San Bernardino el paisaje rural cambia totalmente y lo único que queda es el camino de concreto, todo se vuelve verde. Al ser una actividad más cotidiana ya casi no tomo fotografías, pero este día estaba realmente inspirado, quizás por la compañía o por como se ve el camino en la tarde, lleno de sombras que dejan los árboles, perfecto para fotografiar el paisaje.
All these months I was afraid to go at these hours, I thought I would be affected by the insecurity, the solo and the heat of the afternoon, but it was not so, there was a lot of breeze during the trip and as I mentioned before perfect scenery with lots of shadow that made dark forests suddenly appear and very arid and yellow sand. At that moment I wished I had a better camera and better vision to capture moments in photographs.
Todos estos meses temía ir a estas horas, pensé que me afectaría la inseguridad, el solo y el calor de la tarde, pero no fue así, había mucha brisa durante el trayecto y como mencioné antes escenarios perfectos con mucha sombra que hacía aparecer bosques oscuros repentinamente y arena muy árida y amarilla. En ese momento deseé tener una mejor cámara y mejor visión para capturar momentos en fotografías.
Going hiking with a companion was a great idea, plus my friend needed to talk to me. We got to a point where we sat down to rest, chat and take pictures more calmly, even with each other posing too. Going in the afternoon and enjoying it was a great find for me, in fact I am even considering going at sunset in the future, it must be great to see the sun setting from El Avila...
Ir acompañado a hacer senderismo fue una idea genial, además de que mi amigo necesitaba hablar conmigo. Llegamos a un punto donde nos sentamos a descansar, charlas y tomar fotografías con más calma, incluso también entre nosotros posando. Ir en la tarde y disfrutarlo fue un gran hallazgo para mí, de hecho hasta estoy considerando ir en el atardecer en el futuro, ha de ser genial ver el sol ocultándose desde El Ávila...
