When you've done the same drive umteenmillion times it starts to get a little stale. Once you're there it's fine, but getting there is a bit of a drag. Especially for kids. It's not that far from our house to the Rockies - but some of the spots in the mountains do take a little time to get to, so lately we've been listening to audio books.
Our choice at the moment is Lemmony Snicket's A series of unfortunate events. You might have seen the crappy movie, or the decent TV version on Netflix. The books however are fantastic. The best bit of the audio books is that most of them are narrated by the amazing Tim Curry. He does all the voices and really makes the stories sing...or talk....you get the point.
Fortunately we haven't had any unfortunate events on our mountain adventures....other than our dog deciding it's a good time to swim in - 10C and glacial waters. She was happy though...frozen, but happy.
Anyhow - highly recommended. Oh yeah - here's a lovely reflection and some blue wintery water you probably don't want to swim in.
