Just over the border from Alberta, ever so slightly into British Columbia is Yoho national park and the glorious Emerald lake. There's a lovely trail around the lake and if you get here early enough you can get a paddle in before the hordes of tour buses make paddling a little ridiculous.
This day was fantastic. We joined our friends and their daughters in the mountains for a paddle, picnic and a coffee at the lodge which is just behind me as I took these pics.
The colour of the lake to me symbolizes the Rockies western Canada. Probably the most iconic is lake Louise...but most of them are exactly like this.
In fact - did you know that there's a pantone colour 'Lake Louise blue'....you can order it, and paint your room. It might be a bit much, but you could.....
