This afternoon, I was able to capture some macro shots of a paper wasp that was looking for nectar to consume (one of it's favorite things to eat) with my Canon 80D camera.
The first set of shots is of it resting upon a couple separate leaves.
The next set of shot are of the wasp as it was flying to separate leaves. The first one, I'm especially proud. Though the wasp itself isn't in complete focus, the wings that are moving at a rapid rate left a trail of color in it's wake. You can see a red and yellow half circle where the wings were moving.
In the second action shot, you cannot see the wings, for the camera was not able to capture them. However, it looks like the wasp is floating in thin air, for it's legs were not upon a leaf and as I said, you cannot it's wings.
Truly an interesting insect. There is not much to fear from this insect, unless you invade it's nest. They are usually found in elevated places and overhangs, so they are easily avoidable if you want to stay away from them.
Nature is truly a wonderous place.
