I genuinely love questions that make me ponder, but I’m glad I didn’t have to think too hard on this one. I love relatable topics, and thankfully, the Ladies of Hive Community always comes through with questions that are beautiful just as they are relatable. This week, the question was posed.
You received an invitation to three special occasions, but they all fall on the same day and at different locations — a wedding of your cousin, a huge family reunion, and your best friend’s wedding anniversary. Where would you go and why?

I think my biggest issue is whether or not I will be going anywhere at all, and stay with me, because this is an important thought process to my decision making. I do not like to go out. Occasions wear me out, and I’m too much of an indoorsy person to want to go anywhere unless it’s absolutely necessary, or something fun of my choosing. Because I don’t like to go out, and I would always prefer the comfort and solitude that comes with being on my bed to anything, where I go to has to bring me nearly as much happiness or it’s a necessity, else I won’t be going.
First off, I didn’t know that couples invited people over for their anniversaries. I thought it was something celebrated intimately, unless, of course, it’s 25 years of marriage, or 50 years. That type of “significant” age. I do not think my best friend would be mad if I didn’t show up for her anniversary, because I definitely must have shown up for the wedding, and she knows I wish her marriage the very best.
Also, my best friend is a very private person. She doesn’t publicize matters especially concerning those she loves. So, I doubt she’d want to publicly celebrate her anniversary. But even if she did, in the light of this situation, I’ll be sending her my deepest apologies later on.

When it comes to family reunions, let me just say that I’m not the best at it. I have a very large family, and I dread family functions, cause there’s always something sizzling in the air. Amid the merriment, there’s always this vibe that I’m not comfortable with, and makes me feel like I should have just stayed home. I like to avoid family occasions when I can, especially when it’s with extended family, i.e anyone that is not my immediate family member. So yeah, I may most likely pass on that.
But you see my cousins? I’ll just say that I have a lot by virtue of my very large family as I mentioned, but there are only a few that I’m close to. So, if we’re factoring in those few, they mean more to me than you would ever know. My cousins are everything. I’m just thinking of my triplet cousins who are more or less my brothers, and how I would go above and beyond to ensure that their weddings are a success. I love them so deeply and they have been my best friends for years. It’s without a doubt that I’d choose their wedding over the other occasions.
Remember I said that since I’m an indoor girl, what I choose must bring me similar happiness. Being there for my cousins on their weddings is an example of that. Without a doubt.
