I believe most of you people (especially Malaysians) are aware of the recent "crispy chicken rendang" controversy that circulates around on the Internet like wild fire. If you're not sure what is this all about, you can read all about it right here.
Long story short, Zaleha (Malaysia born chef) cooked a nasi lemak with chicken rendang dish at the MasterChef UK contest, but was disqualified because one of the judges deemed that "the chicken skin isn't crispy, it can't be eaten". The thing is, chicken rendang isn't supposed to be crispy at all because it's not being deep fried. After hearing this, netizens are criticizing the MasterChef judges for not knowing how chicken rendang should be cooked, and having a lack of understanding of the traditional Malaysian dish.
Memes surrounding the topics are already all over the Internet. Heck, even some Malaysian brands are already jumping onto this "crispy chicken rendang" bandwagon. One of the brands that I'll be talking about is Spade's Burger. At the moment, Spade's Burger is only available in Penang & Perak and they have the best burgers that I've tasted so far. To fellow Muslim readers, please be informed that this is a non-Halal burger stall.

You know how most fast food chains will put a very small sentence on their posters & banners saying "picture is for illustration purposes only"? Which means the actual burger is different from the pictures? Well I'll be damned! Spade's Burger's posters & banners ain't for illustration purposes! Their pictures actually depict the actual burgers! It's like WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), literally!
Alright, let's get right into the topic. I think I've stalled long enough. Ta-daaaa! Spade's Burger's own take to Crispy Rendang Chicken burger!

Okay, now compare that poster's illustration with the picture that I took:
See the illustration actually depicts the real burger! It's so big that I've had problem squeezing it into my mouth to take a bite! It was great, but a bit on the sweet side. I'm not too sure if rendang is supposed to be sweet or not 'cos I'm not really into that kind of food, so there's that.
If I were the judge, I would say "Normally, chicken rendang is NOT CRISPY at all. But if you cook the chicken and the rendang sauce separately, then pour the rendang sauce on top of the chicken, you'll get a CRISPY CHICKEN RENDANG! That is absolutely brilliant!
