What? October is almost done? Time flies so fast, huh? Already the last and final entry for the art challenge by @HivePH Art Challenge. Ugh, kind of a bittersweet moment for me because it has been my habit to submit an art a week. Though sad, I am happy that this initiative is successful! It really pushed me to be more creative and stop procrastinating, haha! I also become more sociable with art peeps in the Discord server. I am happy that the ups granted our wish to have a channel dedicated to art.
For this final entry, I chose "your own design". So, since it is Halloween time, why not make a Halloween-themed NFT this time?

Sketch time~
So since it is Halloween, it is trick-or-treat time! It is more popular on the west side, I guess. In the Philippines, Halloween is not really celebrated. It is more on scary shows and skits showed on the internet or television. More like, it is just for kids and event parties.
So I imagine two kids trick or treating at the house of Grumpea. Of course, our star will never be out of style. He ornamented his house with scary decorations such as a caldron, candles, a pumpkin, and a tomb.
The Characters and Decors
I first locate the characters through out the art. I positioned them first in the right places before doing the background. On the left, I put the caldron in front of the witch's broom. Later, I will add more details on the smokey effect of the pot.
On the stairs are little pea and little carrot. Little pea is disguised as a ghost, while little carrot is a bunny rabbit. On the right side, I put the tombstone, and the grumpy pumpkins.
Flat color. Details on the House, stairs, etc.
For the look of the house, I just simply searched a spooky exterior of a house. Usually, I search for an abandoned or creepy house on Pinterest. So, I just mixed all in that idea to come up with my own. I used rough textured brushes and different colors for extra dimension. I used shapes for the bricks. As to the door, I searched for "dungeon doors". I am looking for those old, medieval-ish wood doors. Again, with different brushes and colors to make that perfect door for Grumpea's house.
Oh, did you know that Grumpea has a cat? HAHA! By the way, that spider is just decorating. Ugh.
Final Art
Adding the shadows, lights, and more details. I blurred out the candles a bit to make it spooky-ish. Added the smoke with a touch of color green coming out from the pot. Toned down some saturated colors to match everthing. Added some glow on the pumpkins and the tombstone, and Grumpea. I added another layer to mask the entire canvass to make a fog effect. tadaaa~ It is done!
