I love Steem platform and up until about 2 months ago I had absolutley no problem with Steemit.com, but recently it has got to the point where even the simplest actions are either extremely slow or sometimes don't work at all.
You can blame it on DDoS attacks or whatever you like but there really is no excuse for the problems we are all experiencing when using Steemit.com. How is it that alternatives like Busy.org are more responsive and have very few problems despite them being developed and maintained by a few individuals compared to Steemit.com which surely must have a bigger budget and larger number of people working on it.
I wonder whether Steemit.com are deliberatley making the site harder and harder to navigate and use so that people move onto platforms such a Busy thereby saving money and the cost of maintaining Steemit.com.
produced a report this morning that shows that on average this week there have been around 25,000 active users a day. I know that sounds like a lot but in the world of web hosting that really isn't that many people. I shouldn't be too dificult for a company with the resources of Steemit.inc to build and maintain a website that can host and process the requests of 25,000 people but not only do they seem to be unable to do it, things appear to be getting worse.
How is it that I can sign into and use busy.org which is getting it's information from the same blockchain as Steemit.com yet see response times 5-10 times as quick without getting "transmission broadcast errors" or without waiting for 30 seconds plus for an upvote to register?
Perhaps I just don't understand how these things work so if I am missing anything please let me know.
We want people to join Steemit but almost all that do will initially use Steemit.com and unless they quickly find out about alternatives many will simply not bother interacting with the site.
If Steemit are not going to bother maintaining their website which shouldn't be difficult based on relatively low number of users and consistently steady growth, perhaps they should drop any pretence and start linking to sites such as Busy on their website and warning people that Steemit.com is slow and unreliable.
As a business I can understand why it would benefit Steemit.inc if they didn't have to provide and maintain a website but instead could rely on third parties to build and maintain their own, but if that is the plan why not just admit it?
Edited - It took around a minute for this to be submitted via Steemit.com. Ridiculous
