As someone who still haven't watched even one Avenger's movie, I'm probably not in a position to praise nor criticize this movie.
However as I was browsing my Facebook news feed I've stumbled upon this 1 post (https://www.rappler.com/entertainment/news/228708-netizens-reaction-mall-chain-announcement-avengers-endgame-screening-chinese-subtitles) from a local social media news network in the Philippines about how one mall chain are screening the movie 'Avengers: Endgame' with Chinese subtitles and I can't help feel infuriated.
If the reason is to cater to the increasing Chinese population in the Philippines then quite personally I'm a little disappointed that they would sacrifice the Filipino viewers just so Chinese viewers can understand more the movie. I would understand it if the majority of Filipinos understood Chinese but I think only less than 5% does.
Also, I think we can all agree that 'subtitles' are often distracting as our eyes just can't help look at those subs whether we understood it or not.
I have nothing personal against Chinese people and their products but quite frankly, if I saw a movie with a Chinese sub the first thing that will cross my mind would definitely be along the lines of 'pirated' or if the movie was downloaded on some torrent sites. Lol In other words it kinda gives off a cheap feeling when you don't understand the language itself. XD
