I put my kids to work doin little jobs here and there. I feel it is vital for kids to start early and to know how to do various jobs. From using a shovel, rake, or broom. Just little stuff. Ask them to help you with something like laundry.
My kids are getting a little older so I let them climb up a ladder and clean the mud out of the gutter with a putty knife. Ya I could have used the hose and made a huge muddy mess but that didn’t sound like fun since it was about 40*F.
They were having so much fun. They were almost fighting over who got to go up the ladder next. I couldn’t not believe it, they were actually having fun scraping mud out of the gutters. Who would have thought.
Weird, rubber duckies in the gutter. Gee I wonder how they got there. I think you are looking at the one who did it. Guilty!!!
Often times we as parents get into too much of a hurry and just want to get it done and done right. I myself have been guilty of this in the past.
I’m just goin to do it so it is done.
I want it done right.
I don’t have the patients for it, so I’m just goin to do it.
Instead of taking the time and teaching our kids. Letting them make mistakes and showing them what went wrong and how to fix it. Give them the oppertunity to think out the process for a project or job. Then maybe offer some ideas or hints to guide them in the right direction.
It’s a learning process for both child and parent. So it’s a win win!!
OH MY!! A 7 year old that high up on a ladder!! YEP that’s right. But you notice I’m right there as a safety net 😉
So grab your kids find a little project. Tell them what needs to be accomplished and let the brainstorming begin. Then.…
HAVE FUN DOIN IT!!
Until next time…
STEEM ON!!
