Oulanka national park is located between Kuusamo and Salla at northeast Finland, next to Russian border. The landscape is made up of river valleys and pine forests. There are two rivers Oulanka- and Kitkariver. Area is rich with animals and trouts come up rivers from Russian side. There are some white water areas and Jyrävä waterfall at park area.
Many people visit park to see beautiful nature and awesome sights. There are also popular hiking trails there. Karhunkierros hike is the most popular hiking trail in Finland. It's 82km long on full length, but you can do a shorter version of that, as many do. You can also do a day hike at (small) pieni karhunkierros (about 12km) wich is an easy way to see lot of best sights at park. Route is easy to walk, even there is nice size staircase at one point.
I've been there few times and recommend anyone who has a change to visit there. There are some really beautiful places, change to fish (buy a license), hike or even go rafting. Downside of popular places are that some days there might be few people there.
