Indaba : 2 Sons Mutually Agree
A collective decision after an in-house indaba (discussion/debate) about which three where the top 3 TV series during their childhood, now 35 and 37 respectively this was a fun venture, going down sweet memories of childhood! Yes a spat here and there making the decision, but hey that guys, pretty adamant to get it right!
Here follows their memories and recollection of why they loved these shows. Sorry TV was not around when I was growing up!!
1 Airwolf 1984 - 1987 [English] - American action-adventure television series concerning a high-tech military helicopter, code named Airwolf, and her crew as they undertake various missions, many involving espionage, with a Cold War theme. Starring Jan-Michael Vincent, Ernest Borgnine, Alex Cord, Jean Bruce Scott, yup when I had the time, I enjoyed this show as well!
A helicopter that could out manouevre nearly everything coming it's way, the original music score was the first thing that started up in duo to sound out, then the memories flooded back as to how much they put this particular show at #1. It related well to a boys imagination, they could discuss (well kind of discuss) these heroes in a zippy little flying machine, armed to the teeth!
Original music score:

2 The Simpsons (1990-) [English] - An American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening revolving around a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its family of the same name, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.
Dis-functional middle class family boys loved this one, most probably was the start of pranking people around the house, only time they were still for a few minutes was watching this epic show. First long playing record they got was.... you guessed right, The Simpsons.
Boys being boys this remained a show they watched for many years, still enjoying some of them to this day! Good humour never dies, nor the child in you.
3 MacGyver 1985–1992 series. [English] - American action series about a secret agent who uses inventive and non-violent solutions to resolve crimes and diffuse conflict. Starring Richard Dean Anderson
A guy who could fix a problem, sort out sticky situations, practical application and incentive used definitely had the boys on the edge of their chairs. MacGyver with problem solving solutions taught boys to think opening up new ideas and gadgets to ponder around the home.
One thing both boys had to have was a Swiss Army knife (which they still both have in safekeeping, keeping with non-violet resolutions this TV series was a hit for boys. Not to forgot mom got to watch Richard Dean Anderson... Wow a pleasure!)
Additional TV Series brought into Indaba
The following are the three second favourites, still high up on their hit parade, after much discussion were the runners up, so here goes for the fun of it.....
The magic of KITT car, what young boy would not love this?
Knight Rider (1983–1986) [English] - An American television series starring David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight with smart car KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand)
Sound Track - Possibly music is what triggers the excitement and memories of this TV show.
Knight Rider - Season 1 Episode 1 | NBC Classics

The A-Team 1980s (1985–1990) [English] - American action-adventure television series about a fictional group of ex-Special Forces soldiers who work as mercenaries, usually pro bono publico. Hugely influential on South African school boys who gave spirited renditions of "Howling Mad" Murdock and B. A. Baracus on local playgrounds.
I would have thought this one may have played higher on the ratings, but this is where it was delegated to.

V (1980s) [English] - American series about an invading alien race known as "The Visitors" (reptilian humanoids disguised as human beings) trying to take over Earth, and the human Resistance group attempting to stop them..
Being up front with the boys from an exceptionally young age, teaching them fact from fiction we did allow them to watch this show during the latter 1980's early 1990's, when anticipated gory scenes, we told them to put their hands over their eyes, well nothing beats peeking between little fingers, no they never had nightmares and still feel this was well worth watching.
