We hear about the corporation octopus with its tentacles controlling every industry. However I feel the Strangler Fig is another relevant analogy for corporate control.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the strangler fig I will explain it's parasitic lifecycle and you can decide for yourself...

The Evil Corporate Octopus
When we see reports stating that half the world's wealth is owned by 1% of the population we should be very alarmed! This simple fact shows us that it is not our politicians who rule the world and we should stop voting for those clowns.
What is clear is that a very small band of criminals, murderers, thieves, war mongers and amoral drug peddlers rule our world controlling our politicians like puppets on strings. What we should be doing is publishing the names of these 1% every month of every year so everybody knows who to blame for the misery and war we have to endure. But I digress....
The analogy that we often use for this control structure is an octopus. One brain controlling untold quantities of tentacles that stretch into every industry and facet of our lives. This is a good analogy and accurately describes the central decision making and global reach of the 1% who control us. However there is another apt analogy: the strangler fig!
The Strangler Fig!
The strangler fig is a general term given to several species of plants found in the sub tropics. They are incredible natural wonders and I have always marveled at the huge examples left in the centre of Asian cities like Kuala Lumpur.
The lifecycle of this kind of plant is most interesting. It begins its life as a seed which is often deposited in by birds in the branches of other trees. Unlike most plants the first action of this seed is to send a tap root downwards towards the ground.
Once the seed has access to the ground it begins to grow upwards towards the light above the canopy and once achieving the basic building blocks of life it begins to surround the host tree it lives on in a lattice of roots. Eventually the host tree cannot grow any more because it's size is restricted by the strangler fig and it's leaves are blocked by the parasite. Then it dies.
Now the strangler fig benefits from the rotting host tree and eventually when the tree is completely rotted away the strangler fig is left as a huge column of lattice roots surrounding an empty core. This structure gives it incredible strength during high winds and these amazing plants can live for hundreds of years.
The Stranglerpus - Not To Be Confused With Snagglepus! 😉
Now that I write this post I see that both of these analogies are apt for our global predicament. The octopus shows a central intelligence and represents the control of many aspects of life. The strangler fig also has a central intelligence but further enhances the understanding of our problems.
The parasitic nature of the strangler fig and the fact that it profits and benefits from the demise of its host is an important factor in the control systems we live under. The 1% who control our world do not just desire the profit and ownership of all our industries but they clearly desire increased human death and misery.
There is more murder, war and human slavery today than at any other time in history! 😡
Sadly this is not by chance. Profit and control are not enough for the 1% - they want our death and destruction. This is so obvious when we look at our medical, legal, educational, media and food systems. These systems are totally controlled by the 1% and are not there to liberate us, rather to enslave us.
I did not wish to be flippant by creating the world stranglerpus. I just need some light humor in these heavy subjects to make them more palatable. What is interesting here is that we see two natural forms: the strangler fig and the octopus representing different aspects of our control systems. Combined together they represent control and the desire for death and destruction. Perhaps stranglerpus is relevant? No it sounds too cuddly! 😉
But not everything in life is black and white. Not all strangler figs are able to control and kill their hosts. The sooner we wake up to what is happening in the world around us the sooner we can shake off our strangler figs and free ourselves. ☀️
Here is a youtube clip of David Attenborough on the BBC discussing the strangler fig.
