WELCOME TO THE SEVENTH KING OF THE IRON FIST TOURNAMENT👊
🎮Target Audiences🎮
Getting into a franchise with more than 2 decades of stories is not always easy, and it certainly could intimidate more than one; If we add to that its complex story and the particular gameplay, perhaps more than one may feel as curious as they are reluctant when it comes to immersing themselves in a new King of Iron Fist Tournament. Far from prejudice, Tekken 7 proves to be an extremely versatile title, capable of attracting a new audience and providing facilities, but also attentive to old fans, with an interesting plot and a level of play that does not disappoint those who follow the Tekken saga. after delivery and much less to the lovers of its competitive side. Tekken 7 is a visual bomb that captivates anyone who watches a couple of fights with its color and 3D graphics, but behind all that there are several other reasons why this game is presented as a worthy successor to a historic franchise and possible classic. of the new times in terms of the competitive scene and e-Sports.
🎮What To Expect From Tekken 7?🎮
The Fighting genre has always been very particular, with a handful of sagas that always stand out and dozens of clones or new titles that fail to measure up. At the same time, we also have several graphic currents that go from realism to anime-style graphics, from classic 2D combats to impressive three-dimensional duels, staying with the always delicate 2.5D format. In the case of Tekken 7, what it offers is exactly what anyone could assume with that information: a game that at all times shows us "who Tekken is" and why it reached the top, showing off its visual and sound section. and leaving the bar very high for those who dare to stand up to it.
If you are one of those who in these 23 years had the opportunity to play and spoil with one of the prequels, Tekken 7 is "more of the same", in a good way. We have characters that return and are confirmed as people's favorites, new characters that do not clash, and a set of mechanics and gameplay that are widely recognizable; while other games have tried—with mixed success—to evolve through transformation and hybridization, Tekken 7 follows a very clear line, one that should do its predecessors proud. Whether you're looking for the best fighting game right now, a loyal fan of the series launching into its newest creation, or just curious about to give Tekken 7 a try, this title has little chance to disappoint. especially when its online mode appears as the main objective but the so important offline game modes are not neglected, much less its history, which, for example, was one of the great disasters of Street Fighter V on its release.
🎮Gameplay / Offline Gameplay🎮
History
The first thing we should refer to is the single player story in offline mode, which consists of 14 chapters plus a prologue and a special battle. Basically, that aspect is what distinguishes one game from another in this genre, and in turn what separates the Arcade versions from the ports for consoles or PC. In Tekken 7 we follow the constant battle between the Mishima Zaibatsu and the G Corporation, always hand in hand with the dramatic Mishima and Kazama families, with the points of view of Jin Kazama, Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya Mishima. Let's remember that Tekken 7 has a total of more than 3 dozen playable characters, including old acquaintances such as Hwoarang, Eddy Gordo, King, Ling Xiaoyu, Yoshimitsu or Panda, and we have combat styles for all tastes. Logically, in this story mode we also have characters making their debut, among them the Italian exorcist Claudio Serafino and the long-awaited and mysterious Kazumi Mishima, Heihachi's wife and Kazuya's mother, who obviously also has a demonic form. By the way, we also have Akuma! (known as Gouki, in the Japanese version). Although it seems simply fanservice for Street Fighter lovers, it is worth mentioning the effort they have put into justifying their participation and their role in the plot, as well as being the ideal character for those who do not get used to how Tekken attacks work so easily. and they prefer something more "simple", to put it somehow.
It all begins in that already classic fight between Kazuya and Heihachi, putting ourselves in the shoes of the boy who, after his defeat, is thrown from the mountain by his father. From there, we go through the shoes of about 10 characters in short duels, surrounded by scenes that try to explain the creation of a new King of Iron Fist Tournament and how each character plays their role. Undoubtedly, lore lovers appreciate it when fighting games at least make an attempt to put what is happening on the screen into context, and this time we have at least a couple of hours of guaranteed scripted gameplay. The sad thing, although not surprising, is that several characters seem simple decorations or do not even appear in this adventure, leaving us wanting more when it comes to knowing their intentions. This, on the other hand, is understandable in any game of this type, since Tekken 7 tries to maintain a canon and at the same time offer several views, without diverting attention from the protagonists or their war. For these displaced characters we have special episodes that we unlock in parallel with the main story, although they barely consist of a single fight, with a bit of previous text and a humorous or dramatic epilogue.
Combat Modes
Tekken has always been a game that bases its gameplay on melee combat, where super powers are practically non-existent and long-distance hits are rare. Tekken 7 is no exception, so those fans of casting spells from one end of the screen to the other may not feel as comfortable, but those who love technical combos will feel like they are in a punch and kick paradise. Precisely, those who are dedicated to simply hitting buttons will be able to channel their anger and try their luck, because we all know that there is nothing better than touching all the buttons and seeing how our character magically wins with a spectacular series of attacks; In any case, the best thing to do is spend a while in practice mode, getting to know a little more thoroughly how and when to press a certain chain of buttons so as not to lose so easily against a tough opponent. Although we have several levels of difficulty, Tekken's AI has always been characterized by becoming quite devious as the battles progress, which can be a breaking point for those who don't know how to play. The same thing happens when we jump into the online modes, where thousands of players are surely waiting for us, mastering every movement of their character.
Tekken 7 revolves around the "rage system", a kind of berserker mode in which a character gains more damage when their life bar decreases to a certain point. Unlike Tekken 6, when this system was released, now the damage is scaled and is much less than what we gained before; instead of being able to deal many hits with increased damage, in exchange we have access to the Rage Art, a specific attack that we can only use when our lives are in danger but that could be devastating, since it is not only more forceful, but its damage is inversely proportional to our health. Another mechanic making its first appearance and leaving a strong impression is Power Crush, which channels incoming damage and increases our attack…if we use it at the right time. All this means that those old players will also have things to learn, even to some extent the difference that could be with a Tekken newbie. Still, you can skip all of this and just go through the hit sequences, at least until you feel like your moveset falls short.
🎮Gameplay / Online Playability🎮
Already entering this online mode, the good thing is that it is not simply about ego fights between players, but that we can participate in tournaments and even create our own to have fun with friends. Due to the subjective nature of this, it is best that each one give it a taste in due time, both when looking to have a good time playing against friends and without pressure, or when, after several hours of training, decide that it is time to measure their forces to the community. In any case, and although it may seem less important to many, Tekken 7 triumphs once again when it comes to customization, with hundreds of costumes and accessories to make our favorite character even more ours, and unique —virtually, of course— to time to make yourself known to the world. Even when we get into a fight where our opponent controls the same character as us, customization makes combat feel fresh at all times, while allowing us to show off a bit of our creativity or personality. Both in the treasure chest mode and with the coins we earn just by playing, we discover a lot of hats, helmets, hair accessories, pants, makeups, suits and more outfits, so Tekken 7 becomes addictive no more. not only because of his fights, but because at some point he forces us to grind to get our character to look exactly the way we want.
🎮The Pros And Cons🎮
*Positives:
- Far exceeds what was seen in Tekken 6.
- Offline fun for newbies and online for fans of competitive mode.
- New Tournament mode is ideal for custom tournaments
Many customization options, with dozens of hours of guaranteed gameplay.
Negatives:
- Although the story is good, several characters are ignored... even some favorites of the public.
- For those of you who aren't big fans of fighting games, it can get repetitive very quickly.
As you can see, Tekken 7 is much more than just a bunch of men and women dressed in crazy clothes and ready to beat themselves up. Although within the limits imposed by the genre, we have several additions that not only lengthen the life of the game, but also provide more options for those who quickly get bored with these titles. "Easy to use, difficult to master" is a phrase that many companies have used for their creations, but that doesn't stop it from being applied perfectly with Tekken 7. Of course, to enjoy it to the fullest, you need a very good configuration of PC —in case of not being on consoles— and an even better internet connection, which ensures that each game will run perfectly and there will be no unexpected disconnections.
Any lover of 3D fights urgently needs to try this game, especially if they already have a certain affection for what Tekken means in the world. For now, Tekken 7 is the novelty, but in a few years we could be talking about a classic that, most likely, will not be missing in any formal or informal tournament.
