This week, the Illinois State police posted a photo to one of their Facebook pages, showing the new graphics on their vehicles that will make it harder for people to notice them.
"Sneak peek at the new white ghost graphics on a D15 Ford Explorer. I will have more pics when this cruiser is fully outfitted. With and without flash," the caption on the photo said.
The State Police are not getting much love in the comments, which are filled mostly with people who see this as a problem.
" What a great way to earn the trust of the citizens you’re meant to protect...literally “ghost” graphics so they can’t see you if they’re in need of help. Seriously, does anyone on the force think before they make decisions?" one commenter posted.
"Pathetic. Just another way to steal money from people. With that ghost lettering are you “protecting or serving “. If I steal I’ll go to jail you steal you get an atta boy," another said.
It is possible that similar graphics will be, or already have been rolled out in other states.
