I always enjoy sharing my testimonial...
And it'snot out of pride or ego, far from it. My story, while not unique, can be rare at times when it comes to finding their faith in the later stages of adulthood.
You see, for a lot of people, they grow up in the church.
Maybe their father is a pastor. Maybe their parents have been taking them to church every week for years. Maybe they have a rich history of a church life.
But then you get my story, which again isn't unique, but at times can feel odd. A guy that lived in the world, as secular as it comes, but got baptized just before his 40th birthday.
The message I really want to get across to anyone reading this is that it's never too late. If you have an itch to know more about God, look into it. Remember, I was a blank slate. While I always believed in God, I was never a fan of organized religion. Mainly it was because of the history of the church or what I thought was the church as a whole, and after I read the history books, and how it aligned with Scripture....
I was hooked :)
But maybe that's how God speaks to you....
Maybe it's from a bible study. Maybe it's asking some questions that you've always wondered. Maybe it's because you see your need for a Saviour.
For me, it was the history of the world and how it lined up with bible prophecy. That's how God knew to speak to me. Even at....38 years of age lol
And times, I do think that might be a blessing. Without the bags of tradition to give me biases, I was able to unlock the bible for what it truly was...God's ultimate plan of redemption. But again, that's what worked for me.
Here's the slight push I'm going to give you today though....
If you have that itch, look into faith!
Sure, I'd love for you to be of the same denomination as I am, but the most important thing is that you question...Everything! Church history, human history, science, tradition...Everything. And going back to 'being the same denomination as I am' let share with you a second witness of it never being too late..
One of my best friends on planet earth, grew up quite similar to me. He didn't have faith in his life and the little he did, he was soured at the idea of organized religion. I just got off the phone with him and he's been attending a church now for 4 years and heavily committed to their food missions.
That's what worked for him. God knew, he was selfless, and knew that's what would get him hooked on the gospel. And again....At 40 years of age. Without any biases going into things.
Is he the same denomination as me? Nope, I'll set him straight one day lol j/k
The main message I want to get across is...Seek God! It's never too late even with or without a background in the church. A rotten man like me, can find Christ...Anyone can. But the warning is, don't grieve the Holy Spirit. He's trying to reach you...Don't ignore Him any longer!
