Another Brick in the Wall
[Verse: Roger Waters & David Gilmour, 1979]
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey!
Teacher, leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
[Verse: Kid Chorus]
We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey!
Teacher, leave us kids alone!
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall
[Outro: Roger Waters]
Wrong! Do it again!
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
You! Yes! You behind the bike sheds! Stand still laddie!
When Roger Waters wrote this song it was really the statement of a greater truth about how society appeared at the time. The Industrial revolution in England later followed by the "good old Empire days" all presented and insisted upon "correct" behaviour. Out in "the colonies" judicial systems and laws were presented and institutionalized, in effect even to this day. The schooling system depicted by the lyrics, showed in the movie, children being "churned out" on a production line as metaphorical piggies. The traditional "brick laying" so evident in London's architecture lends itself to the reminder of how we all "need to fit in", like well-laid bricks, weaved into the larger overall plan, that is established without question, and accepted by most.
Now we have a chance to be part of an even larger network that is more decentralized: The Block Chain - Steemit is our chance to build a "better wall" in which we can all proudly be an intricate part of.
