So Samsung just rolled out the global version of the One UI 8.5 update yesterday and I decided to download it coupled with other security updates that I didn't even bother checking out since January.
I honestly didn't know it was rolled out yesterday, I just woke up and decided to update my security updates and saw that my phone had also download the UI 8.5 alongside it, and this is a complete new overhaul of the past UI that felt a bit messy.
The old one was good no doubt, but this one is really good. Before now, samsung's ONEUI has been one of the best UI's out there, not because of its made by Samsung but because it's functional, it works it's powered by a great OS (operating system) and just gives the regular users the ability to merge functionality, creativity, usability and class at the same time.
It's why I'd probably continue to use it over anything. Samsung offers you a bit of everything and even though they won't offer you the overall videography experience that you can get from the iPhone, they make sure you're not limited in what you can do with your phone especially if you're going for the flagship models like the S-Series.
Infact this latest UI firstly came to the S series, and other series are going their around next month and I guess this is one of the perks of using the latest models.
I've been testing it out, and honestly it's been smooth. They slammed AI functionalities to the previous things you could manually do, turning simplistic thing to automatic.
Some of these AI functionalities are the things you could find in the likes of CHATGPT and Gemini, but this time they let you do it in-app, like a custom made thingy that you could always access all time time without having to do it externally.
The most noticeable improvements came to gallery, it added a few camera functionalities and give you some added more AI functionalities to almost everything you do. These AI functionalities gives you more accessibilites, and helps you navigate your device even better.
I'd have to test to see if the cameras were bettered I noticed that now you can now select the level of blur you want your video camera can have while you're inside the app.
This is a real photo I took and the AI tool was able to convert this into this beautiful 3D shots.
For security purposes I'll not be putting the real image
What do you think of these updates?
So basically you can give a whole new level of customization to your pictures, to me I don't think this is a lot of big deal since you cannot use it for the level of content creation you want on places like YouTube, but I'll share my thoughts on what I think in another post.
I'll share the things you can now do with this new UI so that you can see it. I also used some of these AI functionalities on some pictures and I shared them in this post
