Like a broth cooked, eaten with aches,
engrossed in an avalanche of disaster,
the mind is a thermometer that weighs grief,
the lateral lines of tears has become so frequent,
it comes like the rain and leaves lateral lines of rainbow,
who shall sing us ballads and songs?
today's agony is sleeping with us
Today's agony,
Is our resolution, a consummation with sorrow,
deliberating enjoying the piercings of life's arrow,
When the morrow,
is yet to shed it's skin
we are engrossed in the beauty of horror,
having nothing but disaster for dinner
Today's agony will wake up with us,
just like the sun will rise
lying stealthily on our mattress like our spouse,
we've been bested like fallen Spartans,
waiting for succour but the we've been caught up,
sprung up to enjoy the haunting memories of the past
Today's agony will creep into the future,
till our sons and daughters,
inherits it's painful penury,
they will dine blood and livers,
eating up lungs and veins,
Until we become like reeking zombies with rotten flesh
Today's agony will live in immortality,
till it's uprooted and cast in yesterday's flames.
POETIC NOTES & ANALYSIS
Today's Agony is a poem that narrates man's unwillingness to forget the past and surge ahead. The human mind is built to have memories of both good, bad and gory experiences and this may tend to affect the psychological performance of man it may trifle his ability to think well, take coigniscance of his environment and even live a life free from distractions.
The poem however points out the fact that worry over previous experiences can be very lethal even if man hasn't considered this. The poet points out the fact that nothing can change experiences that's taken place in the past and if it's however not purged in the mindset, then it can live on making it's way into man's day to day activities, crippling his productivity as a result of this evening going ahead into his tomorrow playing a major role in the way he makes decision, acts on impulses and eventually it will creep into his future and will reflect in the life style of his children as well.
Worrying and holding on to the agony of the past needs to be properly rooted for mental and psychological freedom of the body and soul and when this is not achieved, then it will result in future occurrences which man may never trace back or find out reasons why.
