Yesterday I talked about Gemini offering the best overall AI performance I've ever seen, better than the likes of CHATGPT and GROK as well. I extensively use them all and I think Grok is the worse of them all.
Although it does a 5/10 job with image generation, but this is because you'd have to pay to actually use it.
However when you're subscribing, you're not just paying to use Grok, you're paying to unlock other platforms features like monetization (which you have to get by unlocking other features, so monetization os not automatic) long form content, verification badge as well as a platform for building whatever.
What Grok does is to give you access to the platform's AI which you can use to do deep research and other things, so I guess that's something.
However, it's mostly useless for research. So basically people don't pay for using GROK, they get it as an added advantage, and this is why it's not a superior AI for research.
Also it can generate videos too, but these videos are hardly realistic and cannot be used for high-end tasks on the internet, it cannot be compared to other sophisticated and higher end AI like Claude, and a few others.
Basically their are other higher end AI that can give you crisp and realistic AIs, but you'd definitely have to pay quite heavily to use them, but at least you don't get low-level prompt answers like you'd normally get with Grok.
Grok imagine is 30$/month
To get GROK imagine which generates videos, you'd have to pay 30$ a month, which is completely outrageous if you ask me. In reality, I think Elon Musk has built X to be a money-making platform.
Although he creates the idea that X (Twitter) is a monetized platform where anyone can come, build an audience and actually earn money, I don't think this is true. If he created GROK as a native AI for research and all that, he'd be out of business by the likes of Gemini and CHATGPT, so he's made GROK very limited and subpar, but built a few utilities around it.
Although I have no doubt that you can get the best of GROK when you're paying the highest level of subscription, but to what end?
Except you're a business person, or someone who needs AI functionalities, I think Grok is a bad idea, and Gemini and CHATGPT will still be the better option. Even if CHATGPT was costlier, it's still an overall great AI with better AI functionalities than GROK.
In conclusion
So basically the GROK AI sells because Elon musk himself is a big brand, and I've seen him reposting the tweets of those who are basically talking good of super GROK. of course this is the case of classic ass-licking which we see on most web2 platforms: speak good a a product to get the repost or attention of the owner of the product.
Even with a standard subscription from X, GROK still falls very short and I honestly don't see it performing at the highest level.
This is practically because Elon musk wants to make money for everything he does. For example only about 1% or less of monetized account on X actually earns a revenue from the so-called revenue program and the conditions to actually earn has continued to become ridiculously higher everyday.
So basically they create the image of value, but they're actually take more from you and giving you less. This is basically the issue with Grok. It's selling because it's owned by Elon musk and not because it's actually good enough.
