CEBU STEEMIANS-Gift Giving Day this Yuletide Season

ENTRY: December 17, 2017: Gift Giving Day of Hive account@steemph.cebu held at City Social Welfare and Development Office, Mandaue City.

Christmas. The season of eternal love and sunshines of hope. It has always been a custom of Filipinoa to give back to others not only those who have made us happy but even acquiantances and mere strangers. There is just something about shining a light in the darkness that feeds the soul. That makes life worth living

And today, I saw that light with my very own eyes and felt it with my spirit. I witnessed the smiles all around - from people who had always longed for a little compassion and to those brave enough to share a litle bit of themselves for others.

I saw light within a community of helpers, in a community of friends, in a community of Steemians.

Today, marks my first encounter with fellow Steemians. With utmost candor, I was nervous. I only joined days ago. I didnt know anybody. I was told that we were invited to help out in a gift giving party. I was oblivious, lost. But the whole idea wasnt radical at all. It felt so familiar - the feeling of joy and love that Christmas has to offer.

I entered the room with my sister, Hive account@maimaimaichan as we were both greeted by a friend Hive account@ninyeah. The program already started but I was suprised to be greeted by such vibrant faces. Gifts were already being handed out and the place was busy. Yet that did not stop the Cebu Steemians feom extending a warm welcome ro us latecomers lol.

From the very start, I thought that I wouldn't belong. Yet somehow the people of SteemitPhCebu were just as much supportive in real life like they are online. I think it just goes to show how a community like Steemit goes a long way than what meets the eye and extends that postivism to others.

With that feeling in mind, I set myself out to help in the program. I aided in handing out the food, the gifts and in cleaning up. It was a wonderful experience all in all.
