The high school student who used a racist sign to ask his girlfriend to prom has been getting a lot of backlash.
Noah Crowley, 18, who attends Riverview High School in Sarasota, Florida, was all smiles in the picture he thought was cool and harmless.
I guess he doesn't know much about history or how racism is still an amplifying issue in which still causes an immense divide in our great nation.
When the picture was taken it was uploaded to Snapchat and the people began to share it on Twitter causing major backlash.
Besides the ignorance in his proposal, the picture says a lot more. If you read between the lines you see that 2018 America, with so much racism in the world, it is still being profoundly disregarded.
"It was a completely joke and it went too far... After reading the texts and Snapchats I truly see how I have affected people & I'm sorry."
Noah Crowley
I try to keep my personal feelings out of serious issues like this, but what good am I doing by not speaking on behalf of my heart?
I wish I could say I accept his apology, but in my passionate heart, I can not.
It took for him to read comments left from the people who are fighting this kind of stupidity in order to apologize, yet he still sees no wrong in what he did.
It bothers me greatly because I have friends who come from all walks of life and seeing what they go through first hand sets a very nasty notion in my gut. I'm not sure if this issue will ever be put to rest, but I can only hope and pray it will. I can stand beside my friends of melanin skin and let them know that even though I do not endure the hate they do I endure the pain when hearing and seeing the hurt in their eyes and the lump in their throat as they share such things with me.
Unity!
