[Last time...]
“Murrdad? No…” He said flatly, “Ye brooght heem tae justice!”
Galligan turned back and glanced down at the paper on the table. His eyes grew wide as he read the posting…
“A spyug from the town’s Sherrif flew out to the ship just hours before you two set off for shore…”
“Blimey!” Kerrisl declared openly as she read the script.

[On the Youngstown wharf…front and center La Serpent…]
“Three hundred ounces of silver!” A man in a finely buttoned velvet vest yelled out.
“We have three hundred! How many jugs of Rum is 10 ounces of silver these days?!” Lieutenant Gratefuleveryday added with a smile as he stood behind the makeshift podium.
“Four hundred!” Another man dressed in a fine leather over-coat called out.
It was obvious that this auction had brought out the wealthiest of land owners and traders in the Youngstown area…
“We have four hundred! Do I hear five?!” Grateful yelled back.
”Five hundred, fifty!” A third well-dressed man yelled.
The auction was well underway and the captain stood on the bridge of the frigate Silverton high above the commotion below. He lit his pipe and taking a satisfied draw, let out a cloud of blue smoke that the wind quickly swept away over the rooftops of the trading shacks along the wharf.
[North side of the Niagara River...]
Leyla followed close behind Standing Officer Lupega as they made their way steadily along the shoreline trail, heading due north…
“Keptin , here comes Lupega!” He daydreamed out loud as he chewed on a fresh grass stem.
“What’s your captain’s name Lupega?” Leyla asked casually as she wound her way along the sandy gravelly trail behind him.
“My Keptin? Why everyone knows him! He’s one of the finest in the world!”
“A very famous officer then?”
“I imagine so, we’ll see if I’m right!” Lupega replied as he carefully pushed a long branch of a bush out of the way of his companion.
“What’s his name?”
Lupega spat out the long green grass stem and scratched his chin a moment in thought, “Well…his name is….his name is…”
Leyla wrinkled her brow as she gazed at him…
“Surely you know your own captain’s name Lupega?”
“My ship takes exciting turns! It gets more and more interesting, it is definitely NOT boring, quite the opposite!” He described absently.
Leyla dropped the enquiry. ‘How can a sailor who is so energetic about his ship not remember his own captain’s name?’ °°°° She thought silently, ‘Can I trust him? Is he making all this up?’ °°°°
The thought made her uncomfortable and she put it out of her head as she followed him.

[On the Silverton…below deck in the galley…]
With a hot plate of salted pork, peas and bread, Commander Kerrislravenhill dug in with her fork at the officer’s table. Directly across from her sat Standing Officer Trumpman who was busily devouring a plain with hot coffee. Next to him sat Petty Officer Tamaralovelace.
“Do you think the auction will go well Sairrr? (!pimp)” Trumpman asked as he chewed.
“It’s show and tell really…I’d like to make a modest bid on the Le Serpent myself to test these colonial bidders! While she's a fine and quick Corvette, I still prefer the versatility of a light frigate.” Kerrislravenhill replied, taking a sip of hot coffee.
“(!pimp)” I bet it brings at least four thousand silvers!” Trumpman said excitedly, his nervous habit re-surfacing again.
“Mebbe so, but there's so many ways it could go Sairrr…” Tamaralovelace added, “You know a lot about ships Commander…”
“Thanks mate, I had a fine teacher and years of experience under the best officers in the Scottish Navy.” Kerrisl replied.

Meanwhile…down on the wharf…the bidding was reaching a fever pitch…
“Eight hundred ounces!” A heavy-set man yelled out of the side of his mouth in a prideful voice as he chewed on a colonial cigar.
“We have eight hundred!” Grateful yelled out, “Do I hear nine?”
Up top, on the Silverton bridge the captain listened carefully. Next to him Cockpit Officer Bleujay bit her lower lip in concentration…
“Sairrr, how high do you think the bidding will go?” She asked curiously.
“Och, it will increase drastically ance th' ale booths open later tadays. In th' meantime thaur will be lang pauses as th' bidders spick wi' their friends an' relatives, lookin' fur mair financial supports! Ahh need at leest fife thoosain oonces.” He answered as he crossed his arms across his chest.
‘Five thousand ounces?!’ °°°° Bleujay mused in her head, ‘What would he need five thousand ounces of silver for?’ °°°° She wondered. Deciding not to pry, she casually changed the subject,
“A fine crew you have selected Sairrr....it makes us proud to be part of it!”
“Canty tae hear it officer…” The captain replied absently as he focused on the auction below.
