⛵ ⛵ ⛵ ⛵...(Tour of "High Island")...Continued...
[Last time...]
The Captain lowered the musket and waited a few seconds for the heavy blue smoke to clear before turning around…
”Galligan! Git in th’ water! Brings her home!”
”Aye Sairrr!” Galligan replied quickly as he tore off his tunic and climbed over the rail and dove into the fast-running current below!

[In the river Niagara…]
The current was swift but it was a lucky break for Lieutenant Bleujay as she could barely lift her arms out of the water for her next stroke.
Commander Galligan swam with all his might, coming from the opposite direction and fighting the current all the way. His heart pounded as he swam but nothing was going to deter him from rescuing his dear shipmate. Finally, in an abrupt meeting, or should we say ‘collision’, he had a hand on her and as the current brought her into his arms, she clung to him in a desperate grip!
He could feel her heart beating and her body shivering and quaking and as he turned and began to side-stroke with the current he whispered in her ear…
“I’ve got ye brave Lass! You will be safe! Tonight you will be warm in your own bunk!”
“Och, Galligan Sairrr! Thank you…for…coming for…me!” She struggled to reply.
Surely there was never a louder cheer or chant from the crew of the mighty Frigate Silverton than that afternoon when one who was lost, now was found! Forty or fifty crewmen now crowded the bow of the ship along with the smiling captain, and they broke out into a Gaelic war hymn….
”Hiererine, hioenin,
him botrao, hainin,
hienin, hioenin,
him botrao, hainin,
hiererine, hioenin,
hiereriea, hienin,
habotria, hioenin,
hiereriea, hienin,
hiendo, botriea, hioa, hindi!”
As the two cold, wet souls approached the starboard hull, the Captain ordered the ratlines dropped and several sailors clabbored down the netting to haul them up.
“It sounds... like a song...” Bleujay exclaimed in a weak voice as Galligan helped up the lower rungs of the ratline.
“It’s a song for you Lass! We thought sure that we had lost you!” Galligan replied as he handed her up to Able Seamen Calatorulmiop and Kamilla19.
“So guid to see ye back Sairrr!” Kamilla19 said as she took hold of Bleujay’s left arm and Calatorulmiop took a hold of her right.
“Welcome back Sairrr!” Calatorulmiop said with a wide grin, “We’ve saved all yer plains from ‘Tatties an’ Neebs’!”
Bleujay laughed and then she cried as she saw all of the crew at the rail extending a helping hand...
It was a day that she would never forget, no, not as long as she lived. The heart and the soul of the mighty Frigate Silverton herself was welcoming her home. And in the center of the starboard rail, stood the one man that more than any other, was thankful for her safe return…
“Braw job Lieutenant! Braw job!”
