During a course a student starts to ask a question, because he disagree with the professor. At next the professor gives him an answer, which the students will never forget.
Student:"Professor, St. Augustine said that reason is the enemy of faith...and I would like to ask you a question with regards to original sin.
Why would you choose to worship a Creator God who forbade humans to actually eat from the tree of knowledge one although you've obviously eaten from because you are a rather knowledgeable man.
Why would you choose to worship this sort of data you would have kept you dumb..?"
Professor:That's a very good question (the students laughing).I tell you why it's a good question.I noticed it was after rigidly by a snake (the students lauging loud).
That is not implying any offense at all, because I want to answer your question.
The story of Genesis fascinates me, because it's a story that defines for us what life really is.It defines it as various levels from the physical to the asthetic to family life to work. The highest thing in life according to that story is a relationship with God that's morally determined. The issue was whether human beings could trust God or not, so there were two trees as you know. The scene shows us the basic minima necessary for a moral being something forbidden but freedom to take it.This was the issue the enemy said:"Has God really said you shall eat of all the trees of the garden??That's nonsense!!"
Then he pointed out what 'you' (student) fight it to me:"God wants you supress you you see, he wants to keep you down. It'll cripple you intellectually aesthetically and everything else, if you go for this tree of knowledge of good and evil."
After this Adam & Eve ate the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
The notion that believing in God keeps you down is very common today.I was told when I was 19 by a Nobel Prize winner. He said to me:"Do you want a career in science?"
I said:"Yes sir!"
He said:"Give up this childish notion of belief in God, it will cripple you intellectually completely and you'll never make a career in science."
I quietly said him:"Sir, what have you got to offer me that I haven't got?"
Then he talked about emergent evolution. The answer to 'your' (student) question now is this:Is God do I worship a God who wants to keep me down?I tell you the kind of God I worship.I worship the kind of God who made me in his image and coded himself into humanity, came into our world to provide a basis through his death and resurection.I could can't become something that I was not by creation and that is a son of God.The basic message of the Christian faith is a maginficent one, that God is prepared to give the individual who trusts Christ his very life and that this person rises in that sense and has given all the potential of God to be able to enjoy his friendship. The capacity of a joint friendship with God is the biggest thing in my life and it would be the biggest thing in eternally.
The notion, that God is trying to keep us down is actually the original lie...
THE RESULT:Some, but not all students were saved to this day, nevertheless no of them forgot this answer in his life.Their image of God - if they became believer or not - wasn't the same in the rest of their life and some of them, who found Jesus Christ after this time (Jeremiah 29:13) influenced other lifes on a positive way, just because their professor was a light, which shines very brightley to this day.
CONCLUSION:Well brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, we
all heard about this wrong image of God, because the enemy doesn't sleep, that's why it's so important to accept the mission which we've got from Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20) and to be a light in this dark world (Isiah 60:1), which shouldn't be hidden (Matthew 5:14), specially because this light is more necessary than ever before in these times.
