Talikud is a Cebuano term of the the word “back”.
The island is called talikod because it's located at the back of Samal island in my home town, Davao City, Philippines.
Talikud greets its visitors with clear, sparkling turquoise waters and pristine unspoiled white shores, perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing and photogenic day at the beach. 😀
How to get there:
From Davao City take a taxi to Sta. Ana Wharf near Magsaysay Park.
Take a boat (P60, 60-80 minutes, between 9AM-3PM) to Talikud Island.
When you arrive at the island, you can walk to the nearest beach resort, or hiring a motorbike known as *habal-habal ( it cost around 100php or roughly 2$ & you can still haggle it😉) to take you further and the best way to navigate the Island.
If you’re not spending the night on the island make sure to check the schedule of returning boats (usually between 6AM-3PM) and plan your day wisely.
Where to stay:
There are several beach resorts in Talikud nowadays than it used to be. It's been 3 years since the last time I visit in the island so if your planning to have a trip here, Chekout the Samal Guide website first. It has all the list of Samal & Talikod Island Beach Resorts, rates, updates & reviews.
The 3 most visited beach resorts in Talikod Island which I've been several times also:
it's the unspoiled white sand, crystal blue water, the trees almost kissing the shore line & the beautiful sun set that makes me keep on returning here
jumpshot! 😀
Babusanta is just next door of Dayang beach resort.
There's also Travel & Tour companies that offers Island Hopping tour if you want to explore & see more of the Island. I suggest Wind & Wave. They have several activities to choose from. Aside from aqua sports artivities snorkeling, kayaking & jetskiing (which is inclusive in one of their wholeday boat rentals that we used to book) there's also scuba diving, parasailing, subwing & aerial tour. Awesome activities to do with your love ones, family & friends!
