Recife, capital of the State of Pernambuco, in the northeastern region of Brazil. The metropole of northeastern Brazil. City known in Brazil as the "Brazilian Venice" because of the large number of bridges (there are 27) and the Capibaribe River that bathes the whole city. The similarities with the Italian city are easily noticed, especially at night.
In addition to its resemblance to Venice, Recife has a lot of Dutch influence in its architecture. This was here where the Dutch established their government for 24 years in the XVII century (between 1630 and 1654), Pernambuco being a region administratively separated from the rest of Brazil during that period.
At that time, Recife was baptized by the Dutch like "Maurisstadt" or "City of Mauritius", because of Governor Mauricio de Nassau. Here the Dutch encouraged the improvement of the architecture of the city, built several access bridges between the islands that make up the city center of Recife and many innovations in science, education and health of the city.
Recife has today (2017) 480 years, having its origin in the year 1537, 37 years after the discovery of Brazil by the Portuguese in 1500. A city that mixes the old with the modern very well, has a very strong cultural richness and the Which characterizes Recife well is its people. A people who the struggle for freedom and better days is their flag.

Frevo and Maracatú, musical styles originating from the African slaves that arrived in Brazil in the middle of the XVIII century left a very strong heritage that today is worshiped in the days of carnival, every year in the months of February.

Recife is "squeezed" between the river and the sea, has on Boa Viagem Beach its urban beach that attracts people from all over the world and even though it is a 100% urban beach, it seems that here we forget the intense movement of the city outside the strip of sand.
I love my city, I hope you enjoyed and when you can, you are invited to come here and I will have a great pleasure to show you all that Recife has to offer.😉📷🍺
