In the village of Vasilyevka, which is located in the Belyaevsky region of Odessa region, there's a wasteland, where rise the ruins of an old manor. Locals love to tell stories in order to attract tourists even call it the estate of a Man-wolf who (agree) sounds quite mysterious.
The estate Dubecki or "Wolf's lair" became known due to the fact that there grew up the most famous patient of Sigmund Freud. But we'll talk about that later. Let's go back to the beginning of history.
The Palace was built by major General Vasily Petrovich Dubecki in the nineteenth century. Was erected during the years 1830-1854. Rumor has it that the author of the project of the manor was himself Franz Boffo, Odessa architect and Creator of the Potemkin stairs in Odessa. The very same manor built in the architectural style of classicism and is to pay tribute, the project made a really gifted man.
There is even an interesting legend that Dubecki the Palace was conceived as a smaller version of the legendary Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. Moreover, the General-the major has elevated him out of spite and envy to the Russian Emperor Nicholas I, which fell out of favor of the Emperor. It is difficult to say how true this is, but the story is at least interesting.
In better times, the Palace consisted of three blocks of two floors. All of them were connected by one-story corridors. Around the house were planted fruit orchard, a little further lake, pond and even a small fountain. And in the distance could be seen nearly fifty hectares of forest. One can only imagine how spectacular the view was from the huge Windows of the manor.
When serfdom was abolished the estate was sold by the descendants of the Dubetsky. New owners in 1863, fishel became Bernadsky and Jankel Sverlik. Neither the estate belonged for a long time, and after a short period of his new owner was Kakhovka merchant and nobleman Konstantin Pankeev. It was in this building his five year old son Sergei had terrible nightmares about wolves that later grew into a neurosis.
His dream was about wolves that are sitting on the branches of walnut, passed him the message. Since that night, Sergei Pankeev panic began to fear wolves, thinking that one of them would come for him and eat. Soon the boy's treatment involved the neurologist and psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. In his writings, the doctor called his patient "Man-wolf" in order to preserve anonymity. Soon, however, the person was vikrita, and the work "From the history of a children's neurosis" has gained unimaginable popularity. Here, in fact, gave a well-known name of the estate - "Wolf's lair".
The territory did not spoil the beauty. During the Civil war, the forest was cut down and the river dried up. Garden nobody watched, because of which it gradually disappeared, and now there are even essays fountains. With 1917 for three years the estate housed a police station, a little later – here was the clubhouse of cinema. For a long time it also housed the village Council.
After a time, the majestic building was empty. Even before the estate was in need of major repairs, but no one wanted to take on its restoration. Years relentless even to such monuments. In the nineties the building was even more destroyed, the residents dismantled everything that was of any value for building materials.
To restore the estate to Dubecki failed, or rather could not find those who are interested. Now the manor of the wolf-Man – belyaevskiy dump on the ruins. Abandoned place with amazing history that will soon be buried under the ground, with a stone Foundation and collapsed walls. Take strength, take a backpack, stock up on water and take a stroll around this interesting place.
Yes, it is a pity that our compatriots don't want to honor the history of their native land. Let's hope that there is someone who will still be able to restore this monument of architecture!
