It's amazing to see how popular CryptoKitties is and we haven't even really figured out what we're doing yet. The market hype and activity around this game has been amazing, but I think it distracted me a bit from learning how to really play the game.
On the CryptoKitties discord, I've been noticing people showing off their collections as they try to breed their favourite traits together. I've been doing a lot of pastels so I want to try some neons and figure out what my favourite traits are.
The other night I was trying to figure out what each cattribute meant. The CryptoKitties Wikia helped me a bit with understanding that munchkin has to do with fur appearance, though I'm still trying to find out what "totesbasic" is lol. I've adjusted my chart from yesterday to the same breakdown as the CryptoKitties wikia one to better illustrate the traits. Unfortunately it won't fit in this post so here is a link. I'll be using it to help guide me, along with Kitty Explorer, CryptoKittyDex, and other community tools.
Quest for the Dream Kittehs
I started off with about 0.1ish ETH and picked out two kitties with bright colours. I picked out kitties that stood out to me in the marketplace, rather than focusing too much on their cattributes yet.
I didn't get too fancy on the gens (generations) or breeding speed. These two were both approx gen 6s who had slow cooldowns. They've got decently bright colours to start with. Let's take a closer look.
kittencream | strawberry | luckystripe | crazy | soserious | swampgreen | aquamarine |cymric
In this series of cattributes, it's the swampgreen that gives the kitty those nice looking stripes. It's a pattern colour. I like that trait and I'll try to keep it. I also like that this kity is a cymric. Something about their shape is very cute looking to me. Otherwise, there's nothing too interesting here for me. Except that I noticed that this kitty has parented two DuCat/duck cats! I'm not really trying to breed for ducks but good to know.
orangesoda | happygokitty | totesbasic | chocolate | raisedbrow | himalayan | topaz | emeraldgreen
This little one has got a nice orangesoda colour, along with an emeraldgreen belly. I'll definitely try to keep encouraing those traits, though emeraldgreen is a little rarer so we'll see how it goes. I also noticed that two of this kitty's kittens have bloodred bellies. I'm not sure where that popped up from, but it's good to keep in mind. There's probably a whole way that recessive genes are functioning here that I haven't even begun to understand yet.
To add to my breeding stock, I added a few more kitties from the marketplace.
kittencream | totesbasic | chocolate | thicccbrowz | sizzurp | pouty | aquamarine | cymric
I picked out this one because it has that nice purple sizzup eyes & background. I also noticed that one of its kittens is a DuCat. Neat. Seeing two ducks related to cymrics in a row makes me ask the question: does the cymric trait have anything to do with DuCat? Right now, I don't know anything about how fancy cats are made so it's worth noting for later exploration.
orangesoda | totesbasic | crazy | chocolate | munchkin | sizzurp | pouty | bloodred
Lastly, I splurged a little on a kitty with a bloodred chest and a shorter cooldown than the others. It also has sizzup, which I like a lot.
For this part, I'll finish off by breeding emeraldgreen and bloodred and then we'll see what we have and what we can learn.
