MicroFiction: A 250 word story format that I often utilize to address the daily prompts. The story today is written using the word prompt "convince me!".
...When I think of the prompt "convince me!", what comes to mind is a directive in which an individual is ordering another person to validate his or her statements, positions on a situation, or actions taken in a particular direction.
Often, people make decisions that, in the opinion of a reasonable man, aren't rational or have a valid reason for doing so. If a person requests validation, then the other individual attempts to prove or defend his or her point of view. Though some actions are indefensible. I hope you enjoy my micro-story.

Below is my story:
Lenora Blufort stepped inside the Waldorf-Astoria ballroom elegantly suited. Guests paused, bewildered, questioning why and who would've invited her to their private dinner party. None dared voice their disgust.
You could hear a pin drop the stillness offered. She took the opportunity to canvas the room. Her appearance portrayed none that attended the celebration that evening. No mind. Her purpose wasn't to mingle with those who lay claim to her grandparents. Hobnobbing with them would mean she sanctioned the bond servant practice that propelled many families in attendance to current positions of power and wealth.
To ease the awkwardness, she motioned to a waiter nearby.
He hesitated, unsure whether to comply, then strolled toward her. He neither spoke nor offered a drink as though he'd forgotten his role. No worries. Lenora delicately removed a glass from his cocktail tray.
"I'll handle this." Gerald Hollingsworth slammed his napkin on the table, then backed away, almost toppling his chair.
"This is a private, invitation-only event," Gerald explained forcefully, then surveyed the room as if to clarify the ethnicity pervaded throughout.
"I have as much right here as you, Hollingsworth,' Lenora replied sternly without flinching. Whispers erupted.
"Convince me!" Gerald mocked. Immediately, his mother joined them.
"Is there a problem, darling?" Mrs. Agnes Hollingsworth sneered.
Lenora interrupted Gerald. "Yours. The reparations suit settled. Hollingsworth Enterprises confiscated; assets frozen; with me, Lenora Blufort, now owning your five plantations.
Taking a large gulp, she replaced it.
"You are next," she warned the crowd, then exited.

El invitado inesperado a la cena
Lenora Blufort entró en el salón de baile del Waldorf-Astoria vestida con un elegante traje. Los invitados se detuvieron, desconcertados, preguntándose por qué y quién la habría invitado a su cena privada. Nadie se atrevió a expresar su disgusto.

Para aliviar la incomodidad, hizo una señal a un camarero que se encontraba cerca.
