The burnt landscape would remind immigrants of bigotry's grim reality.
Yet they vowed to rebuild.

De no ser por la sangre fría de los hombres de las montañas, se habrían perdido vidas.
El paisaje calcinado recordaría a los inmigrantes la cruda realidad de la intolerancia.
Sin embargo, se comprometieron a reconstruirlo.
