The Homestead In My Mind's Eye | LET'S MAKE A COLLAGE: ROUND #62

Let's Make a Collage (LMAC) is a photography contest that provides a unique opportunity to create your own collage from a photograph provided by the contest owner. I decided to participate this week because I loved the image given to start the collage. I've always wanted to move back to a country setting. So peaceful and serene, I could spend the remainder of my life there doing absolutely nothing.

To create this serene setting, I started with the photograph provided by Hive account@shaka. Just look at those clouds in the background. Although they are beautiful, in the end I decided to change cloud cover to one even more dramatic.

I created my collage in Canva. It's my favorite program for combining photos so that I can rearrange them. I utilized the program's free backgrounds.

First, I uploaded the contest owner's photo and all the free images I intended to use to piece together the collage.

Once uploaded, I decided to start with one of the free photos as the primary background photo.

The image I chose below I feel complements the contest photo by providing the beautiful clouds with a hint of blue and various landscaping items:

Second, I added the following images to the background photo:

• Transparent version of edited photo for the contest;

I decided to use only the farm portion of the contest owner's photo. I edited the photo to cut out the unwanted areas, then made the remaining part transparent. I then added it to the background photo and positioned it under the trees. It looks as if it were meant to be in the scene.

Third, I decided I wanted some additional landscaped trees and a pond, so I added the following image and positioned it under the edited version of the contest owner's photo:

Doesn't it give the photo a serene look with the shadows casting over the front of the farm and the bluest pond?

Finally, I added images from PurePNG.com of animals and birds to create a serene environment that I would love to spend time just lounging around:

• Image of a fountain by pngstock

CONTEST RULES

What is Let's Make a Collage?	It is a weekly photography and collage contest.
Who created the contest?	Hive account@shaka is the contest owner.
What type of contest is it?	This Contest utilizes a single photo provided by the contest owner as the basis for you to create your own photo collage by adding to the photo provided.
What are the rules?	1. Use as your starting point for your collage the photography provided by the contest owner. It is located on the contest owner's post for free use without any copyright protection.
	2. Entries need to be posted to the LMAC community and should contain a reference to this post.
	3. By submitting your contribution you agree that your artwork remains public domain and that it can be copied, modified and distributed, even for commercial purposes, without requiring further permission.
	4. Any graphical element that is added to the photography either needs to be your own original work (e.g. own artwork or photography) OR needs to derive from the public domain (having no copyright protection).
	5. IMPORTANT: Indicate the source of all materials used in your accompanying post. Otherwise your entry can NOT be put up for the final vote.
	6. All sort of editing, modification and/or manipulation is allowed as long as no copyright is affected.
	7. Entries need to set the LMAC community account as 20% beneficiary to be eligible for the dynamic component of the prize pool.;
