Ah camping... I love it!
I always find myself craving the mountains, so last week I decided to head off with some friends for a little impromptu adventure. In fact.. it was so last minute that I made my blueberry bread post on the drive up, and pushed publish just as I was losing service. Well actually I lost it a few minutes after, as I still had time to get a message from to tell me I forgot to include the tribe tags. After I called him a stalker, I edited to include them 😄 thanks ash! I’m so bad at tags.
Anyways, I apologize for not responding to comments on that post, as I didn’t have service for the next 5 days.. and it was kinda glorious. But I wanted to share some of that adventure with you guys!
I did force myself to take some artsy hidden details style shots too, and will share those later.. today it’s all about the adventure though.
Do you know how glorious it is to wake up to that each morning? To make coffee on the fire and then crawl back into bed to just breathe that all in. 😍
Coffee seems to always taste better when camping, just something about it.
Oh.. and I slept like a baby. Why? Well because I had a 6inch foam pad under my sleeping bag.. AND because right behind those trees there was a beautiful creek.. and I could hear it all night long.
Pretty dreamy right?
The Bear 🐻👀
Yes, there was a bear.. no, I did not get a photo. Why? Because it was first thing in the morning and I was headed to the woods to pee.. yes.. that’s what you do when you camp in the woods, AND you do not bring a camera to pee.. anywho as I was making my way to the makeshift outhouse I heard a big splash and then a small black bear crossed the creek in front of me and headed up the hill. From me to that rock there...
I, of course, just stopped in my tracks and watched him make his way up the hill.. then turned around and headed back to camp. (I no longer had to pee ...clearly.) - Where I proceeded to tell everyone that the bear was not even remotely interested in me.
We didn’t have anymore bear sightings after that but there were some pretty comical moments when our black dog started terrifying everyone while sneaking up to us in the dark. 😄
All in all.. no scary animals caused us any issues.
The View 🌲
We did a ton of hiking, swimming in the creek and exploring the local meadows. While also doing some fishing and eating entirely too much food.. it must have been the mountain air.. and not that we are a bunch of fat kids that brought way too many snacks. But I mean.. the hikes worked that all off, right? 😉
We even caught enough on our last day to have trout for dinner.. I always think it’s pretty sweet to watch kiddos catch their own food and learn how to cook it over a fire.. life lessons and experiences that just stick with you.
All in all it was an awesome little get away and I am already planning the next one.
I hope you guys had a great week too!
Much Love,
Justine
