I think the best road trip I have taken in a long time was when my school went on an excursion to an agricultural institute here in Ibadan called the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
So basically, it was about two hours from my school, so it was quite a journey. I could remember we went with two different buses, and inside the bus, everyone was just playing music and vibing. Some people were singing along, and others were just talking and laughing. It didn’t even feel like a normal school trip,it was more like we were just going out to have fun.
When we got to the institu te, they showed us around and explained different things to us. It was actually a really big institute. One thing that really stood out for me was that we actually had the chance to meet some fo

reign experts. At that time, it fel ce rt like a big deal because it wasn’t so8nmething I was used to seeing. Also, we had a mini lecture where they talked to us about diving into different farming business like poultry.

Then, later on, we went outside, and that was where things got more interesting. The bus that took us there wasn’t back on time, so we were just there waiting. But instead of it being boring, everyone was just gisting, moving around, and enjoying the moment. They even brought us food and drinks, so it just made everything more relaxed.
After a while, the bus finally came, and we left the institute and headed to the University of Ibadan. The university had a zoo, so that was basically where we went next to see the animals.
So when we got there, we had to pay for tickets before entering. I could remember the first animals I saw were birds like vultures and all of that. Then I also had the chance to see animals like baboon, hyena, and even fox for the first time ever, which was actually really interesting because I had only seen them on TV before.
After seeing all the animals, we later sat down somewhere inside the zoo and just decided to have fun. It basically turned into a mini picnic. I could remember I went with my friends to get a bucket ice cream, and later on, we even ate rice and chicken. We were just playing, gisting, and vibing to music on the side. Then, later on in the evening, we started heading back to school. Even on the road, everyone was still talking and laughing inside the bus like the day wasn’t even over yet. It was just one of those experiences that felt really simple but at the same time very enjoyable.
Looking back at it now, I think what made it special wasn’t just the places we went to, but the whole vibe of the trip. It was just fun, free, and full of good moments from beginning to the end.
