Reports have indicated that Thomas Lemar, Monaco winger, is only interested in moving over to Barcelona. The France international, who many believed was linked with Premier League clubs since the summer of last year (2017), has set his heart on opening the next chapter of his life – and his career to boot – in La Liga.
The attacker, rated at about £90million had been watched and tracked keenly by the duo – Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp – for more than a year. Both men were already more than willing to break their respective banks and splash a lot of money, just to secure the services of the 22-year-old Frenchman.
But from all indications coming to light, Lemar has no plans of joining any Premier League club. His eyes are already set for the next phase of his soccer career at Nou Camp and have strong confidence that the La Liga giants will readily pick him up, come this summer.
This huge blow to both Arsenal and Liverpool, who had been pursuing versatile Monaco forward, is not something that will be lived down so soon. This is because both Premier League clubs had, after ensuring that Lemar met their requirements when it came to the type of soccer player they wanted to boost their points in the ongoing Premiership run, had gotten in contact with Monaco respectively.
They had made their interest known over the France international and had come very close to sealing a deal that could have gotten the Frenchman a nice pay packet every week, had he agreed to move over the Premier League. It is still not yet clear which of the Premier League clubs had the highest bid back then that would have gotten Lemar over to England.
What is, however evident, is that Lemar stayed with Monaco and still playing actively in almost all their soccer matches. But earlier this month, Arsenal renewed their interest in the international player by making further enquiries about him. Liverpool is a bit laid-back about their interest in the £90million-rated attacker, but still interested in signing up the French player if he is available in summer this year.
Even Real Madrid, as well as Atletico Madrid, has shown a profound interest in the 22-year-old winger also as Arsenal and Liverpool are going head-to-head for him.
But all these enquiries could end up being for nothing and being a big disappointment to all these football clubs as the Monaco player’s interest only lies in playing for Barcelona.
Lemar’s hopes in playing for the Spanish side rests heavily on the fact that the La Liga champions have listed his name on their wish list of soccer players to bid for this summer.
Despite having signed up Philippe Coutinho Correia, a Brazilian professional player – who is believed, will play as a winger or attacking midfielder – recently, Barcelona is still building up their team after the departure of Neymar Junior at a record-breaking amount of money.
However, despite Lemar’s desire to play in Nou Camp, his club, AS Monaco, has the final say about his future. The only reason why the Ligue 1 club will release one of their top talents is if a massive bid for his services is made.
