Hello Steem! My name is Adam Perkowski and I'm a musician/recordist and content creator. I live in Olympia, WA, USA with my friends (one of them created an account with me, see his #introduceyourself that I resteemed below). My main focus is recording and engineering audio, everything from studio setup to mastering. I also love videography, photography, hosting events, and gaming.
I'm currently enrolled at the Evergreen State College in a year-long course on documentary film. Last quarter, we were told that we were going to be writing an essay on a subject of our choice pertaining to media technology, techniques, ethics, and other assorted categories. I wrote about the blockchains potential uses in the media industry, as my dad became interested in crypto a good while ago and we have been talking lots about the varied potential uses of this exciting technology. Ultimately, I pulled most info for the paper from this PDF by Deloitte, some interviews from different crypto heads, and seminars with speakers affiliated with bitcoin, ethereum, mycelia, etc. Writing about the implications of the blockchain in the media industry got me really excited about a new peer-to-peer online service where people host their art, stories, ideas, and other miscellany and ultimately get paid in crypto micropayments for their content (spoiler: Steem! But we'll get to that later).
Fast forward two weeks -- I'm out at a local bar/venue to see my friend's band from back home, hanging around outside in between sets. This guy and I started talking about nothing over a smoke, and I quickly learn that he's been working at Bitcoin doing some sort of something that I forget the specifics of. We obviously moved on to the subject of crypto, and I told him about my school project and the ideas that came from that. He immediately brought up Steemit, and I spent about 30 minutes looking at the front page and the FAQ in the bar before excitedly posting on Facebook:
FOR ALL CONTENT CREATORS, ARTISTS, VISIONARIES, ENTREPRENEURS, AND ANY INTERESTED IN THE NEW WAVE OF MEDIA SHARING/DISTRIBUTION: https://steemit.com/
I've been researching Steem for weeks now and I know that the apps on this blockchain have a huge potential to become a mainstream platform for social media and publishing, and the community looks friendly and promising. I'm super excited to be here with you guys, and to be able to see your content and understand more about this social and economic ecosystem. I plan to use my little corner of this site to post my music, videos, gaming streams, blog posts, and whatever else I think people might like! I'm generally musically interested in anything hip-hop, funk, indie and jazz. I'm working on a record right now that is primarily funk and rock, with some hip-hop elements. That content will definitely show up here on DSound along with my other miscellaneous sounds that I work on (see my first DSound post), maybe exclusively for awhile to try to rope my friends and followers into checking out this great service ;) When I write (which isn't often, although I think this platform might help me to get a second wind with regards to writing) I prefer to write about spirituality, politics, music, and experiences. Gaming is also going to likely be a focus for me, as I love RPG and Souls-like games as well as online MMOs like World of Warcraft and World of Tanks.
Thanks for reading this long bio if you made it to this point, and I hope to see your killer content sometime soon! <3
