Earlier, I only saw that tree on the internet, and could hardly believed it was existing. Well, this is a rainbow eucalyptus tree. I was lucky to photograph it in Loutra-Pozar, Greece.
Eucalyptus deglupta, or more commonly known as rainbow eucalyptus, is a huge tree growing in tropical regions and the only species of eucalyptus that lives in the northern hemisphere.
It grows extremely fast, it can double its height in one year, up to sixty feet tall and can reach a diameter of two meters.
The most striking feature of the tree is the rainbow-colored trunk, which is due to the fact that it occasionally drops its outer bark and blends in blue, red, orange, purple and brown.
Rainbow eucalyptus is often a jewel of ornamental gardens, but is also used in the Philippines as a paper pulp.
This photo is original and taken with Panasonic FZ82.
