This is a painting I saw in the coffee room in my friend's office. I could not work out whether it is an oil painting or a colour pencils picture. This painting has been here for several years, it was hung on the wall in the corner of the room. It never caught my attention until I walked right up to have a good look.
I was amazed by the story in the picture; it is a scene in a temple during some kind of religious celebration. Judging by the costume, it reflects Thai society over a hundred years ago. The men's hair style was very popular during the early Ratanakosin Period, say, King Rama IV reign. The ladies appear to be selling their hand-woven cloth in the temple fair. There were people doing Thai dance in the background (we don't have discos at that time!). This is a very cheerful time of the year, may be spring time temple fair. I hope some one can tell me the kind of media the painter had used here. I am not at all art-literate!
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Cheers.
