Last Friday I posted all of my own amethyst samples. We talked about the amethyst mines near Thunder Bay and north of Lake Superior. On Saturday, while at the museum, I took photos in the Rocks and Minerals section. Take a look at the top shelf on the far left.
Here is a better photo, below. Sure enough, they had this monster sample of amethyst from the Amethyst Mine at Thunder Bay, Ontario. Look at the size of those crystals! I took a dozen photos in that section and I will probably do a feature on it at some point. Their mineral collection was started at least 150 years ago.
