Life is an unpredictable journey whose end is beyond our knowledge yet we build everything as if we are not going anywhere from here. Why?
When you think about it, it feels so weird. We don't even know about the very next second still plans for many years ahead. We start planning from birth to old age and yet don't know how long we will live. Maybe that's why death hurts us so much because we are never expecting it.
What is funny and weird about this fact is that what we expect is the life which is uncertain but what we don't expect is death which is certain. We are trying to escape from the reality that we have to eventually face no matter what our goal was.
Maybe this escaping mentality is the reason behind all our attachments, emotions, possessions and desires. Because we are treating these worldly things like permanent. We believe that we are going to live long and these will be the treasures of our life that we will take with us as our achievements. We are not looking at them as temporary objects that will only help us until we are alive. That's why we are so passionate about these things and so deeply obsessed that we are unable to know the real meaning of living.
Life is not just about keep earning blindly and collecting materialistic objects. It's about living, enjoying the moments, sharing happiness, contributing towards others, exploring the world, nature and its creations.
If you would have known when you are going to die then will your point of view towards life have been the same as it is now? Absolutely not!
If I knew that I have only a month left then why will I be busy in earning those things which means nothing to me in a month. Maybe I will utilise my each day in exploring those things which I haven't explored yet, or doing something that I always love to do, or maybe spending more time with my loved ones.
I would surely not be in a hurry to make money and build property. These are just the bridges to do what we actually love to do but most of us are often distracted. We forget for what we had started and got captured in the trap.
One of the most common scenario that I see around me is that the people from poor or middle class families often work so hard, live away from family to give their families the happiness and comfort but they end up with the separation from their families. Sometimes even in the festivals they don't unite, conversation becomes less, caring about each other becomes less. So at the end they are earning comfort for their family but slowly losing their emotional connection with them.
It's not like that you don't need money. Money is the only way to survive in today's world. It's the fact that you should know how much is needed and for what purpose. In the journey of earning comforts, the joy of living should never fade.
A person should always keep in mind that everything is temporary, so give it as much time as required. Look at it from different perspectives.
Think of life as a blank book with 50 pages and each page having 365 lines. Would you like to write the same sentence on each line of each page or would you like to make it interesting with different sentences and stories.
Always keep in mind, you would not be able to write beyond those 50 pages. So be mindful before wasting your one page or one line. Don't stick to one phase of life, learn to keep moving.
