I decided last minute That I desperately wanted to create a Halloween coloring book! Its a very risky move, Considering Halloween is right around the corner, I have to design and draw each page, Design the cover, and assemble the interior. All before Halloween, Then obtain enough review on Amazon to give me some credibility.
I managed to finish all the pages in time, Except two of them will need to be redrawn if they cannot be repaired in my vector program. I leave for San Diego in two days for my vacation! So my stress is through the roof! My goal was to finish it, Including the interior. Then send it off to the printer. Once the printer completes their check and approves it. I can order the proof copy, Which usually takes two weeks to arrive. So By the time I'm home from my vacation I can start marketing it like crazy to hopefully get it selling.
Here is my design process of my new cover!
I hand colored this with markers
Some of the drawings in the book, Being incorporated into my cover design
I changed my mind, I want a white cover IN order to make it more professional looking...
Adding the title, Outlining the title, And choosing the perfect font!
Working the back cover, But I have to leave space for the barcode in the lower right corner on the left side of the page.
Done!
My thoughts
I had no idea it would turn out like this! I had a totally different thing planned. With giant pumpkins, And a more orange cover. But I changed my mind.
I like the result, What do you think?
Supplies
- Colored with marker (the cat picture on the front)
- I used Gimp, similar to photoshop, But free.
- I can't remember the fonts I used.
- I used only pictures from the book.
In my next articles I'll show you some of the Halloween drawings I did for this book!
