Happy Thursday Hivers!
My elder sister and I both enjoy natural remedies and herbal teas. We prefer these kinds of alternatives because we know they contain little to no chemicals compared to processed products.
During our fiesta celebration, we ate a lot of sweets. Even though we do not have high blood sugar, we still became concerned because we consumed too many desserts and a large amount of white rice as well. Because of that, I told my sister, “Our blood sugar might increase because of everything we ate.” She then reminded me that we have guava trees in our mini farm and suggested that we make guava tea since it may help support healthy blood sugar levels.
I was honestly surprised because I did not know that guava had benefits like that. I already knew that guava leaves could help treat wounds because when we were still children, we used them as a natural remedy whenever we got injured. We would extract the juice from the guava leaves and apply it directly to the wound, and it would heal surprisingly fast.
Since I learned about it, I started drinking guava tea. However, I don’t drink it every day, only when I feel like I’ve eaten too many sweets.
Since we have guava trees in our mini farm, my mother and I simply pick the leaves from there. We make sure to wash them thoroughly to remove any dirt or dust. After washing, I place the leaves in a cup, pour hot water over them, and let them steep for a few minutes.
The taste is slightly astringent, but still tolerable. I wouldn’t say it’s delicious, but it’s definitely manageable to drink.
Even though guava tea may not have the best taste, I still appreciate it because it reminds me that some of the simplest and most natural things around us can also be beneficial.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
