Yucca donuts
A sweet temptation
A sweet temptation
As is customary in Venezuela for the Holy Week, meet as a family and make regional or traditional sweets from the region ... And this Holy Week was no exception. As you know I am a Colombian resident in Venezuela, but it is inevitable not to get infected with these beautiful traditions, of which I have already made them mine and this time we are going with some delicious Yucca Donuts
In this post, I will tell you step by step how I did ...
Ingredients
-1 lb of Yucca, peeled, cooked and without veins
-1 egg
-2 tablespoons of multi-purpose wheat flour
-1 pinch of salt
-Oil for frying
We reach the point where it is deduced if they are eaten with honey from bees, with sweet jam or in sugar syrup; I think this is going to taste, I made them with syrup:
Ingredients for the syrup:
-1 cup sugar
-½ cup of wáter
Steps:
- In a bowl place the yucca, egg, flour and salt. Process until everything is well incorporated and you have a homogeneous mass. If you do not have a processor, you knead it with your hands.
- In a deep pot, add the oil to medium heat and let it heat until it reaches a temperature of 350ºF
- Moisten the hands with a little oil and form balls of equal size with the cassava dough. (Even the dough will stick to your hands Hahahaha)
- Fry the fritters 4 by 4 until they are golden brown. Remove carefully and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot bathed with syrup.
To make the syrup:
Place all the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-low heat and cook for 8-10 minutes until the syrup has a golden color and until the drops fall slowly from a wooden spoon. Here is a tip, do not stir the mixture constantly, just at the beginning a little bit so that the sugar and water join together, leave the fire to do the work.
And now to enjoy some delicious fritters, Mmmmmmm Yumi Yumi
